del Sol, Miata's top competitor in early 90's...
#42
Reading this thread makes me feel dumber. I had a CRX and the del sol suffers the same problem. Simply put they have a **** wheel base. Yes, if you put a h22 it would be fast, but **** so would a miata if you put a 2.2l inline four and turboed it (think of whatever motor it is they swap into miatas -SR20,F20,etc). Oh and for the record.. the miata/CRX HF is like 2100 lbs vs the del sol being 2300ish.

the only thing more queer than "racing" a honda is thinking your fwd grocery getter is a race car. 200whp fwd honda ------s get owned by 96whp rwd miatas every time.
fwd = power-bottom felcher mobiles, or a normal daily driver.

WTF is up your ***? do u understand that a HONDA doesnt need torque?? with 120 lbs of torque and 180 whp they will break high 12s. Thats all I wanted to say. I personally drive a miata and love it and would take it over any HONDA but It deserves respect for breaking sub 13s in the quarter mile even if it has 100 lbs of torque dont you thiNK? whatever im done with this thread.
no they don't.

I'd stick to just comments regarding Ghetto and Krazy guys... FWD can be fun and quite capable on track. Those that say it isn't worth it havent driven a good one.
At 190/130 in my civic hatch... I was passing Evos/M3s/turbo miatas on track. But I'll be honest, my car had alot of attention paid to the setup, and i had seat time with it all.
Then again... my stock miata last summer... was a freaking blast to drive at the local AutoX.... I can't even imagine how it'll be once my build is done.

From Franks (ghettoracer) website www.akmee.com
"We were instrumental in getting the TOP SETUP K20EG involved. We also pre-tested the car prior to letting ORIDO & DRIFTKING drive. K20EG received perfect 100 pts from TSUCHIYA and 97 pts from ORIDO on subjective rating. Which clears confirms GhettoRacer's tuning abilities."
Whats funny about this... is that Frank has no part in that car or setup. It was entirely built by Charlie.. the owner of the car and of Top Setup here in Chicago.
Frank is a skilled BS artist... thats about the best way to describe him.

So i should lie about what i feel about a car? Its a public forum and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I stated my opinion and already said im DONE. So no one has to agree or disagree with me anymore im done. I just wanted to give you my side because as much as i hate FWD (the del sol spun 1st through top of 2nd) that sucker was quick. But whatever phillip isnt mad at me...hes just being himself and cracking jokes left and right :gay: I WANT JACK AND COKE right now

I had a Del Sol Si back in the day a 93. Crazy slow car. Slower than the 93 Civic Si I had. Only real memory I have of that car was in dead of winter, my wife was holding our christmas tree in the passenger seat with her. We had to stow the top, and the tree was sticking out of the top of the car. Then I sold it and got a Z.

How much torque do you have? 200? 240?? Thats nothing for a h22 del sol. So while ur laughing at it for being FWD hes 10 cars in front of you. I personally hate FWD but I give props where it needs to be given. If FWD was really that bad then the MAZDASPEED 3 wouldnt beat the S2000 around laguna seca (latest motor trend magazine)
Here is the thing that brings us to that very fine line. Yes, the MS3 beat the S2K around the track. Funny how power and torque play huge rolls.
However, I would venture to say we would all rather drive the S2K.
Another example is the Solstice GXP beating the Boxster around the track, too. All said and done, I would again venture to say we would all rather driver the Porsche.
It comes down to being a driver's car. Not just HP and TQ numbers.
Honda should have kept the CRX, and refined it rather than switch over to the Del Sol. I think that was Honda's only blunder in the 90's.

s2k> mazdaspeed 3...but my point was that FWD doesnt always suck thattt bad. My last two cars have both been stick shift and RWD. My daily driver is FWD and i hate it but these ******* get quick too regardless of wheelspin this that. Only downside is they all need like sticky *** slicks or else its just spinning like srt4 status haha
