Valid point indeed, I'm not going to rush with any changes. Next science project will be back to back testing of this vs a 3" catless open downpipe to hopefully see exactly what the difference is up top. We'll see if curiosity will "kill the cat"
It will live on, its soul will be released into furry and grow into castrophany so immense, that it will be heard far away in space. There will be no screams, there will be no time, the Turbo called URABUS will speak only fire and then there will be... nothing.
Yep, got schooled by the newest version gold GTI. I was truly impressed. It has full bolt ons including larger turbo, 430whp, 3000lb (gutted interior) and was DSG.
Another one with similar mods was running 11.4@125 today, which again surprised me.
In other news, here's slips from today. I simply could not launch the car cleanly, spun clutch, spun tires, and bogged. Oh well, I'm no pro drag racer.

I did this today. The results.............really surprised me.
I mean, seriously I double checked everything like 6 times just to make sure because I expected drastically different results.
Blue line: 3" catless OPEN downpipe. No exhaust. loud enough to wake the dead Green line: 3" catted downpipe, tapering to 2.5", going into a 2.75" aftermarket exhaust Red line: 3" catted downpipe, tapering to 2.5", going into the stock catback exhaust which is only 2.25"
Ignore the spool/boost threshold, I got on it at slightly different rpm. But even still: I honestly expected DRASTICALLY different results. I'm gonna do another run in a few days just to check, but if this is legit, I'm staying on stock catback. I am in LOOOOOOVE with how quiet the car is.
Excellent. Now I know especially since I'll likely just do an OTS AA tune on the 135i, I'll do an axle-back or the BMW PE and not bother with a downpipe or midpipe.
I'm not worried about spool since all 300 torques are there at 1200rpm.
Run an electric cutout. have the quiet exhaust for cruising and wake the dead for racing That's what ima run on the miata. On a budget and I think its silly to spend $1k+ on some metal pipes O_o
Pretty sure I have raced that car, especially with number 124 gear jammers on the window. Does it belong to a guy with a grey beard? Could be a different car
