Right. The Z71 is plenty capable of those things. ZR2 is cool, but silly IMO.

Just had a guy with an FJ cruiser come in and put a deposit on one though, haha.

BUT TOYS!

It's one of those things like the Camaro SS. The normal SS is plenty capable, but the 1LE package exists, so I'd want that version even though it's completely unnecessary for 99.99999999% of use.

WELLLLLLL the Camaro is different :P

It really is though. The 1LE package doesn't really make the Camaro a worse street car, especially since it includes magnetic ride. Whereas the ZR2 package does make the truck worse at towing and fuel economy and such, by a significant margin.

The optimal answer is a moderate sized, older truck you won't feel bad scratching and scraping, a 2004-2006 Tundra for instance, and a newer car for daily driving. Most of those guys buying $45k pickups are afraid of actually using them as trucks.

Close. My "perfect" setup would be something like:

Buy house close to work.
Get girlfriend in a lightly used Forester/Outback for campy things.
But newer car to drive to work (only go in 3 days per week, if I don't drive to the girlfriends, it takes me 3 weeks to use a tank of gas).
Newer car get's "casual HPDE" prep. Oil cooler, brakes, suspension, wheels/tires. Done.

Rent a truck if I need to do truck things.

^good idea. If doing truck things happens more frequently, buying an inexpensive truck is a good plan too. my '98 Sierra works great and it was very cheap.

Yeah, I just found a house I like that's only 4 miles from work, closer than the 8 that's my downtown apt. I'd buy a bike and ride when the weather is decent (middle of June to early September is brutal in OK, 100+ highs with high humidity).

Nice and big too, I think it's 4 bed 3 bath, 2200 sq ft, 2 car garage and a nice big fenced in backyard and basically completely renovated inside. Only $150k.

Rent a truck every track day is kind of expensive. Just buy one, especially if you're only a short tow away from the tracks. Anything within the last two body styles of F150s tows open trailers great and rides awesome.

That's assuming I would go to every track weekend, which I likely wouldn't. Plus I'd just do what my uncle used to in his '03 Cobra for HPDE. All needed tools, oil, water, tent, etc go into the car and drive it to the track.

Maybe I should try auto-x, never done it.

I am actually reconsidering an ND. You can use a convertible probably 8 months out of the year here. Like I said, I'm all over the place.

Since a ton of people in subarus and on this website run rotella T6...
Has anyone noticed they've put a new version out? I'm assuming its a new formulation since its K rated instead of J rated, not sure if engine protection has been compromised in anyway or what the differences are. (not really an oil expert by any means)
I noticed it about a month or 2 ago but now I can't even find the old version anymore.

I noticed. I've not checked BITOG yet to see if someone did a VOA on the new stuff to compare, but seeing as T6 is the only thing my Urabus doesn't consume I'm about to do a change with the new T6 and see how she do.
