smurfs blood would be redline lightweight shockproof. The tranny liked it before, there's not many 110k mile wrx trannies that can get shifted into 1st at practically any speed. I considered uncle scotty's cocktail but thats too much work and the tranny had been doing so well with the shockproof.
What year is your car, the T70 or whatever started at some random year like 05 or something. I bought mine from amazon along with the shockproof and funnel. It was like $5.

Oo! I'm learning!
What is this "smurfs blood" you speak of? Is there some reason I should start juicing smurfs (that seems rather Gargamel) rather than just fill the trans with AMSOIL MTG 75w90?
Also V, did you do the trans oil in the 04 at some point? So far I think I've done every other nominal maintenance item in the car just to get a baseline. That's the only one remaining. I even bought a torx 70 socket or whatever godawful random size that plug happens to be.

04 WRX w/5 speed
That's cool, the 2nd 5 speed that went into NB was filled with that blue stuff when I got it, I always wondered what it was.
So its not that there is anything wrong with the trans in my WRX, but I'm absofuckinglutely spoiled with the 6 speed + MiataRoadster short shifter in the Miata. The shifter in the WRX is super floppy whiskeydick failsauce in comparison. Kartboy seems to make a rather well regarded set of shifter bushings that can be used with the stock shifter, and I'm giving serious consideration to installing them. Not sure I want to buy the whole Kartboy short shifter kit though.

I would highly suggest picking up the TIC Wide Shift Kit. It has all the Kartboy bushings + a few TIC bushings that Kartboy doesn't make. I loved that setup on my car.
TIC = Turn In Concepts
TiC 06+ 5MT Holy Shift Kit (Wide)
Details -
A total package solution for all your shifter bushings!!
This kit replaces all the bushings in the shifter assembly with better and stiffer ones. Nice and easy to get from one source, and nice and easy to set aside time to do them all in one go!
With it you get:
Kartboy 5MT front stay bushing
Kartboy Rear Stay bushing
TiC 06+ 5MT linkage bushings
TiC Wide pivot bushings
If your car is an 02-07 Impreza, and has the STOCK lever. This is the kit to get. The stock lever is gray in color and has a rubber filled upper body.
If your car is an 05+ LGT with a 5mt or is an 08+ Impreza with a 5MT this is the kit to get.

Early Impreza Super Shifter Set - Wide
All the bushings, Kartboy lever and linkage update. The problem with doing anything under the Subaru will tempt me to other things, like GroupN trans mount, trans crossmember bushings, diff mounts, etc etc etc.

It's the Super Shifter Set for the earlier impreza.
With this kit you get:
1) Why the hell is this kit so expensive. Well, it's the linkage update. You MUST use it as your stock linkage is not servicable like on the newer cars.
2) This kit fits the 2002-2005 Impreza that has the stock lever assemble. If you have the factory optional SPT short shifter then you want the narrow version.

just fyi your bushings are fine, not worn out or anything.
the tic kit definitely makes a difference, but I don't think it will be the "difference you're looking for". as in, it will be more right, but still sloppy. not sure how to explain it, but basically its a rod transmission thing lol. it will never feel as precise as what you're describing.
I loved the TIC holy shift kit on my fxt though, so you might as well do it when you're bored.

I remember you said something about "lol, welcome to the wonderful world of subaru shifters" the first time I drove it. Moving from the Miata to the Subaru is just painful. Like I said, I'm just really spoiled by the Miata right now. I feel like I'm going to end up a shifter junky chasing that first high.

does anyone know the exact difference/s between the rear lateral links that came on my 05 LGT from the factory(that were in a box in the trunk when i bought the car) and STI badged ones installed currently?

now that ive read the last few post i can add that i hate my lgt shifter. sloppy, a little notchy, almost demands perfect rev matching. redline lightweight shock proof came out at 70k from the PO. ive been on 75W90NS since, im at 90k now. no noticeable difference between the 2.
i wonder how much that kit would improve things. i, like the above, have been spoiled by the miata.

2005 saab 9-2x
Ughh...if this car was a M/T I'd buy it tonight.
Too lazy to click? Ad is for an '05 Saab 9-2x, 90k miles for $4700. But it's a 4EAT.
It's so cheap I'm even consider the stupid slush box

I've been really enjoying my slow boaty subaru. Heres the newest accessory, makes it SO much more convenient to go ride whenever the hell I want.
Also, blew out one of my shitty all season tires during some shinnanigans yesterday. Hit a transition from pavement to dirt at about ~65, and it felt smooth as butter.. until i heard a terrible hissing. Put a nice 1" gash in my dr. rear tire, so I'm rolling around on the full size spare.
Now, no way I'm just replacing 1 tire on my subaru (sym awd and whatnot), so I decided it's time to man up.. so i've got a set of these on the way in 215/65/16 (about 1" bigger diameter than oem overall).
I'm actually really stoked on em. ~460 shipped.
