DC Itinerary, Monday MAY 7th
I lived in VA for 9 years... never done the DC tourist thing, I suck. Now I live in Hawaii, and finally gonna do some of it.
Flying into Reagan 0845 on the 7th, but my meeting in Dahlgren isn't until the next day... so I've got the whole day/evening to kill in DC.
Mandatory for me to do the Air and Space museum first thing and the US Navy Memorial Plaza.
1) Looking for best place to park to that makes it easy for me to leave Reagan, drive to within walking distance of the Smithsonian, and park ONCE... then easy escape at the end of the day.
2) Who's up for dinner Monday night? Someplace within walkin' distance of the mall for sure.

Ahoy!
As a former DC resident and frequent visitor, I refuse to let you eat walking distance from the mall. Because all there is there is a McDonalds and some shitty hotdog carts selling shitty tshirts. Unless you're ok walking like 3 large city blocks. Then OK.
Are you staying near the airport or near Dahlgren? Because you can park for cheap near some metro stations and not have to dick with parking in the city. Then you just metro in and out of the mall and avoid end of day traffic.
Could probably trick Scott into picking you up at the mall, driving to food, then driving you to where your car is parked afterwards.
He's cool like that.

Staying in Dahlgren... my meetings are from 1200-2100 on Tues/Wed. Will drive down after dinner on Monday, and back up Thurs morning... makes for a real long Monday.
****, it's like 4 miles to walk from Arlington Nat Cemetery to the Air and Space Museum, plus whatever else I may want to see. Gonna need to rethink this, don't want to spend hours of my day walking.

what do you want to see? you probably should limit it to the memorials; probably wont have museum time -- but you should do air and space if any.
they good ones worth seeing are all within walking:
itll take about 15-20min to walk to air and space from the Washington monument -- I just did that two weekends ago.
There's plenty of parking around 17th and Penn if you wanna park in a garage all day for $20-25, then go see Trump in the WH, then walk down to the mall. I suggest uber for distances.
if you really wanna meet for dinner, you should get off the mall.

I'll do some math and letcha know about dinner... would be cool to get the band together, but I also need to weigh 18hrs of travel, followed by a day of tourist'ing, and knowing I have to drive 90 minutes to get to my hotel.
