This car was custom built for the local parade that is put on every year. It has two front ends and can be driven from either end, the one steering wheel can be locked so it can be driven normally, or it can be driven in circles or sideways etc. Would be good for parades, shows, or possibly clowns! There was a 1990 with under 4k miles that sold at auction recently for $16,500. ($15,000 hammer + $1,500 buyer's premium)
I can only guess that someone thinks these will be collectible someday.
I don't think those are 2002 wheels. Seems strange someone would go through the trouble of putting 15" wheels on and then never driving the thing.
Those were OEM from '99-'02. They were the stock wheel on the base-package '02 model. The 16" Twisted Starfish was still an option in '02, and didn't become standard on base-model cars until '03.
And yeah, I've seen other ultra-low-mile Miatas go for ridiculous prices. And given enough time, this guy may find a buyer. I just doubt he'll find one on CL.

I see the same stuff on the BRZ facebook pages.
For some reason guys conflate the sky rocketing values of the E30 M3 with these stupid things. The E30 M3 was the most successful race car in history and they imported 5000 to the US over the 4 year run. There was nearly a quarter of a million NAs produced.
