I was in Chico at Brewfest drinking beer in 110° heat all Saturday. So much beer, so much win! Anderson was there with both Summer Solstice and Winter Solstice on tap. That was a fun one.
So here is a thing: The super light beer I brwed for a party this weekend did not come out. I need to get a keg of something commercial and I'm limited by the following:
1. Needs to be drinkable by the Bud/Miller/Coors crowd.
2. Available at BevMo on short notice (5 days)
3. I'm limited to 5g keg space.
4. 4~ish% ABV. This needs to be a drinker without starting a shitshow.
Top choices at the moment are Sam Adams Boston Lager, North Coast Scrimshaw Pilsner and Kona Longboard Lager.
Alternates are Drakes Amber, Anderson Valley Boont Amber, Alaskan Amber and Mendeceno Red Tail. But honestly, these may be "too much" for this crowd.
What say you all?

I did a fun little experiment last night. I invited my brother, one of his friends, my dad over last night and made them drink cheap beer and eat pizza. (My fiancee was there as well, but I already know what she drinks.) These guys are definitely the BMC crowd. I have about a quadrillion pint glasses so I subjected them to the following in blind testing:
Kona Longboard
Sam Adams Boston Lager
Blue Moon Belgian White
Lost Coast Great White
North Coast Scrimshaw Pilsner
Surprisingly enough, the head and shoulders winner was Scrimshaw. A close second was Blue Moon as was preferred by my Dad the Corona Aficionado.
Now the question is, do I get one 5g keg of each or 2 of one or the other?

Drove out to Stone Brewery at lunchtime today and picked up a few of these, which just debuted today:
The latest in the Stone Collaboration Ale series, Stone Farking Wheaton W00tstout.
Haven't opened one yet (they're a bit shaken up from the ride home), but from the few who have reported on them so far, they're supposedly liquid sex.
(Who knew that Wesley Crusher was a beer geek?)
I'm just pissed that I missed out on a ticket to Hop-Con 2013.

I'm still addicted to Southern Tier Live.
I have Anderson Valley Pale Ale in my beer fridge too...that stuff is great.
Anderson Valley Winter Solstice is on sale near my house for $24.95 a case. That's a steal. That stuff is so freakin good it's unreal. I had the Summer Solstice, it's ok...

My good friend is a Stone distributor. I have a bunch of beer snoob friends in Philly, they made me in to a beer snoob. I have not grown a beard yet to stroke while drinking beer though.
I might crack one of my JW Lee's harvest ale. I think the 98 is maturing nicely.
One surprise I got was the Sweet Baby Jesus from DuClaw, they actualy made a good beer.

Well, these are 22oz bottles and they're $8.50 each, so a whole case might be a bit unwieldy, but I'd be happy to ship a few bottles.
Also, in case anybody doesn't get the reference, this beer is to commemorate W00tstock 4.0, this year a San Diego exclusive. Wil Wheaton is one of the four primary collaborators in the annual festival (along with Adam Savage and Paul & Storm), Drew Curtis (of FARK.com) is a regular contributor and fellow geek, and Greg Koch (the one who looks like a homeless guy in the video) is the Lord High Bastard, Founder and CEO of Stone Brewery.

The local afterwork bar sells DogFishHead 90 Minute for $14 a 6 pack, which I feel is a great deal. I'm on it right now...I have off work until Wedneday. This is gonna be a long awesome party.
