Tomorrow I'm knocking off work to hopefully get a taste of "heaven and hell". "Heaven and Hell" is when you mix Dogfish head 120 minute with Dogfish head World Wide Stout. I'd imagine it makes the greatest black and tan ever made. WW stout is 18% abv, and 120 min I think is 12%. WW stout is $13 for a 12oz bottle where I go, and 120 min is $12 a bottle. $25 for 24oz of the best combo sounds like a deal to me.

Went out to a few places yesterday with my homebrew master friend.
1) Southern Tier Mokah, 10.7%abv
Mixture of Choklate and Jahva. Absolutely amazing. Very dark, very smooth, yet crisp with vanilla undertones. Slightly reminded me of Founders Breakfast Stout, but not as harsh.
2) Weyerbacher Double Simcoe...9%abv Double IPA
Amazing aroma, perfect amber color, velvet smoothness. Absolutely no bitterness. What a perfect IPA.
3) North Coast Old Rasputin 2010 on nitrogen, 9% Oak Bourbon Barrel aged.
I enjoyed this a lot. Similar texture to Guinness. Very smooth, yet strong, but what do you expect for a Russian Imperial Stout?
4) Dogfish Head 120 minute, 18-20% abv, nobody officially knows.
Strong, but very smooth. Very very sugary, strong caramel taste...very syrupy. Worth the money? I don't think so. The thing with 120 minute is people buy it up so fast cause it's so limited, but it's not properly aged. The flavors haven't been properly mixed. If you buy it, I recommend you age it for about 3 years.
5) Dogfish Head World Wide Stout, 18% abv.
Very strong, smells like a red wine, kind of. Strong coffee flavor that is slightly malty. Great beer!
6) I mixed the 120 minute with the World Wide Stout and made a black and tan, this is called "Heaven and Hell". Holy F'n ****. The 2 blended perfectly, no seperation at all. Mild IPA scent with coffee undertone. There is no way it tastes like it's 18% abv. The IPA taste is totally hidden by the stout, but it makes a perfect blend. Strong, but damn this was fantastic...highly recommended.

Tastes like a Jolly Rancher and makes you look effeminate at the same time! Win-win!
But seriously, I tried Cigar City Brewing Co.'s Jose' Marti American Porter recently at the brewery and loved it. Yes they have an open tasting room at the brewery. They had a special batch that was aged in French oak barrels that was a special treat.
If you like Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, you will likely enjoy this as well due to the rich thick mouthfeel and strong flavor being balanced with sweet maltiness. Really good.

I went to Niagara Falls for my Anniversary last week and the only good beer they had there was Harpoon IPA. It was decent. Right now I am drinking Young's Double Chocolate Stout and I had a couple Jagermeister shots. I'm feeling pretty good, but it's ok, I'm celebrating. There is this guy at work who has Torrette's and ADHD (bullshit in his case) and he annoys the **** out of me EVERYDAY. I'm celebrating for 2 reasons. 1) He's on vacation ALL NEXT WEEK. 2) I have been working out hardcore lately and my wife and I have been running. I ran with her this morning and we got home. She said, "I'm going to go upstairs and make lunch, what are you going to do?" I said, "I'm gonna run the course finally and kick it's ***." The course is 2.2 Miles. The best I ever did it was 12 minutes something...according to my watch. My record for this year WAS 13:29 as of July 11th. Today was the first time I ran it since doing 8/10th mile runs which I got down to 4:20. I started the course with a stop watch and when I came back around I stopped it. 11:00. ******* Eleven minutes exactly. That's 2 minutes and 27 seconds faster than my record for this year, and over 1 minute faster than my all time record. That's like 1/4 mile every minute. My goal is 10 minutes flat. Not bad for a drunk poster from PA.
