Beer of the Day thread (and ci-derp)

I am still working on perfecting my imperial stout. My last one got shockingly low judge marks. Feels bad man. I think I need to up the roastiness and the sweetness.
I am trying to make a stout version of a belgian quad and I just don't think that's what people's palates like. They're all like "this is too dry, not enough body, etc." I just hate the super full bodies chocolate cake stouts everyone is pimping these days.
BTW, with barrel aging, I feel the trick is to keep it on the wood for a short period of time and take it off when you can taste the oak, not when it becomes "too much." When you can just barely taste it, that's the limit. Beyond that point, you're just making a bourbon/rye/scotch flavored beer rather than a beer with added complexity.

So I was at BJ's "brew"pub last night (I think they actually make everything in CA, though some of them have equipment I'm jealous of that just sits) and I noticed a beer called, "Delirium tremens"
I had already ordered my second and both were higher ABV so I skipped it but wanted to see what the experts thought... very interesting name they gave it as Wikipedia was the first result:
Delirium tremens (DTs) is the most severe form of ethanol withdrawal manifested by altered mental status (global confusion) and sympathetic overdrive (autonomic hyperactivity), which can progress to cardiovascular collapse. DTs is a medical emergency with a high mortality rate ...
Maybe it's a good name for an e85 racecar too.

I'm confused, Delirium Tremens is made by Brouwerij Huyghe in Belgium - https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/180/1385/ and I'm kinda shocked that a place like BJs would have it on tap. Related: Brouwerij Huyghe makes one of my absolute favorite seasonal beers, Delirium Noël - https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/180/2347/ but sadly, I was unable to find it anywhere this year and had to deal with the inlaws sober.
Also, holy ****, BJ's is consistently the worst dining experience I've ever had. The only reason I keep going back is that people keep trying to get me to meet them there, and it always ends terribly. That place is like sniffing a carton of sour milk. You get the first whiff and you know something is wrong, but then you always go back and smell it again just to see how bad it could possibly be.

They have it in bottle I think. I've never had a bad experience there personally having been to a couple locations in the Houston metro area but I can't say I've ever been amazed either. Had the late night or something burger last night, egg, salsa, etc. I make similar deals at home and this was an interesting twist.

It's easily one of my favorite Belgians. I've got a bottle of it in the beer fridge right now.

Four days!
It's an event. Like a holiday.
Bell's Oberon release day 2017: Metro Detroit parties, midnight tappings - WXYZ.com
Nobody has taken me up on my offer to mail them a case. The offer still stands.

So, until now I had pretty much given up on single IPAS. THIS You should try, I got it at my local Kroger and this company makes that ever popular (I made fun of it here but find myself craving) the burbon aged Tenfiddy, the regular amazing imperial stouts ten fiddy and I prey to Lord baby Jesus they make an equal dbl NEIPA. I only had one Rodeo Clown b4 this so listen Linda.

I take it they all arrived unharmed.
Enjoy.
Edit* since I've been in Minneapolis for a week now. I've seen someone drink a beertini and a bloody beer. I think you can guess the added ingredients in each. These people are kinda strange.

^^ +1
Great Divide makes some great beers. There are at least a half dozen variations on the Yetti, from barrel aged, to chocolate, espresso, oatmeal, Belgian, and more. I stopped in at their taproom in Denver last time I passed thru and, after sampling the goods, picked up one of their shirts. Every time I've worn it out here in CA I've had people come up to me and comment about how they believe too; like seriously . . . in Sasquatch.

I picked one of these up recently in a DIY mix-pack:
Initial reaction after first sip: "Oh, my, that's remarkably good!" It's not cluttered with any extraneous flavors, it's just a pure, simple oatmeal stout. Nothing more need be said.

A competently-executed example of a rare genre:
The initial pucker-factor is high with this one, though it settles down after a few sips. Definitely not a good one to introduce someone to gose with, but quite decent if you like strong sours. And it is blessedly devoid of fruit.
