Melvin's 2x4 Double IPA. Big hops (obv) but not bitter, nice malt base keeping it smooth. 9.9%...not gonna take many to put me down. If you've had .44 Magnum from Four Noses this is similar.
I can't quite believe I'm saying this, but the above does not suck.
My wife has a thing for candles, she knows I don't like the food smells other than vanilla, so we call them food candles and she tries to buy fewer than she would of it were only her place.
I made this sampler based on your not suck recommendation above, when I took it out of the bag she says, "these are food candles, you're going to get sick of you have one after the other."
Lol, yeah, maybe I already had a stout before I went out; should be... interesting?

That is good stuff, but their flagship single IPA is one of the best beers I've ever had. Try it if you are able. I just snagged a 6-pack of Asterisk DIPA from Tavour yesterday

Oh dear.
Actually, that's the perfect description. It's not a good oatmeal stout. Hell, its not even a good example of a stout OR a coffee infused beer. And your wife is right, I would not recommend drinking more than one in a sitting.
I drank the entire six pack over the course of a week, mostly out of obligation because the mother in law picked this up for me. It didn't give me the toxic beer ***** that Blue Moon generally visits upon me, so they must be using a different yeast or process or whatever. I'm probably going to regret saying this but I'd almost like to try it on tap, just to see if its any different.
There’s nothing quite like hopping in the shower at the end of a long week and cracking open a beer to simultaneously pre-game and freshen up before a night out. Whether because you’re amped to start getting your weekend drinking on or just a big fan of multitasking, shower beers really hit the spot.
But if you’ve ever found powering down a full 12 ounces of beer during a six-minute shower rather tough, a Swedish brewery has the answer—a double-strength mini beer designed specifically for consuming in the shower. Game on.
The aptly named “Shower Beer” comes to us from the Swedish craft brewery PangPang and the creative agency Snask, and it’s “a sweet but strong pale ale in a 18 cl (six-ounce) small bottle meant to gulp in three sips while standing in the shower getting ready for the night.”
“We always loved the concept of drinking beer in the shower, so the idea to create a beer that would be drunk while showering was a must,” Snask Founder and Creative Director Fredrik Öst told MUNCHIES. “But we also wanted to create a beer that would kickstart your night, hence a strong but sweet beer that would be sipped in three to four sips while getting ready to the tunes of ‘Dressed for Success!’”
Is this a thing? Yes, this is a thing. Of course for those of you who Reddit, r/showerbeer is actually a thing as well. As you may have guessed, its NSFW and yes, its a sausage fest. You have been warned.
Tonight, I'm having a very tasty, and new, one that just appeared on shelves here:
Caltucky is an American twist on a Russian Imperial Stout. Brewed with Wheat, Corn, and Rye just like a good Bourbon, then rested for 4 months on Old Forester Kentucky Bourbon Barrels. The robust richness of the imperial stout and characteristics of the rye and bourbon have matured into a complex, spicy, and flavorful stout. A marriage of Russian Imperial Stout and Kentucky Bourbon from twisted Californian minds. For freshest flavor, store below 40˚ F
Color: Black with tinges of red around the edges
Head: Tan
Mouthfeel: Rich Velvety and Spicy
Up Front: Spicy Rye, Cocoa, Toffee, Vanilla, and Deep Caramel
Aroma: Rye, Vanilla, Tobacco, and Caramel Apple
Finish: Sweet Warm and Robust Roast Malts
ABV: 10.0%
IBU: 48
This is the 108th birthday Shiner, no coffee flavor at all IMO. It tastes like their standard bock plus a tiny little hint of chocolate cake aftertaste. It's better than if it actually tasted like a coffee bean and Shiner mixed at least.
A cold beer in a hot shower at the end of the day is one of my favorite things.
Use an ice cold IPA (Not Imperial!) and a bar of Irish Spring for best results.
I took a chance on this the other day because the guy behind the counter assured me that "it's actually pretty good".
Fact: People who sell beer have a shitty taste in beer.
The tastes of vanilla and malted milk ***** are accentuated with a flavor that I can only describe as "synthetic".
It is nearly as bad as the Voodoo Doughnut maple bacon stout that Rogue released a few years back.

Asterisk was the first beer I had from this brewery. Definitely a keeper. I just finished off a 6 of their namesake Melvin IPA, another good one from them. If you see anything from Four Noses out your way give it a shot: Bout Damn Time, Proboscis Simcoe, and the aforementioned .44 Magnum (my favorite from that brewery, and on par with Asterisk).
I've always said that if I ever brewed my Milk Stout again, I'd add chocolate and mint. I'd love to hear how this turns out for you, and how you did the mint.
I used this recipe as it has a reputation for being a great example of this style. For the mint, I used mint tea as the recipe suggests but subbed out 3 bags for some fresh mint from Sixshooter's wife's garden
Lol, I just realized how long its been since I logged into HBT.
Looks solid, though I'm surprised the teabags go directly into the boil. I'd be worried about fermentation stripping out a lot of the peppermint from the nose, but I'm sure the fermentation will smell amazing regardless.

He mentions the possibility of dry hopping the tea bags as well. I'll probably taste it when I verify FG to ensure fermentation is complete and add a few bags for a couple days of necessary.
