My grandpa used to work on these engines when he was in the Air Force. He talked a lot about working on the turbos. He said that the turbos would still be spinning for a half hour after the engines were cut. He had a T-bird turbo coupe that he messed with that would hang with 911s and outrun RX7s in the 80s and he helped me install my turbo kit a few years ago. I really wish I had talked to him more about his Air Force days before he passed.

My grandfather used to fly the turbo'ed P-38 back in the war; I cant get him to talk much about those days though, understandably.

The new place is about a mile from the county airport, and these awesome relics flew right over head on approach! I could only imagine what several hundred would have sounded like. The above turbo was from a B-24 and they also had a B-17. I took the girls and they had a great time climbing all up in them. Never realized how tight it was in there... also had 2 P-51s, which also flew overhead several times :)
