She's a loser.
Between her ugly face and terrible voice, all I heard was noise. She would've been better off blogging. |
Irish drinking song is Irish. But aren't all Irish songs drinking songs?

Fun little article to read:
http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/h...g_bang_theory/ Cliffs: Hotrod Magazine tries to find the weak link in a stock $500 5.3 iron (truck) junkyard/rusty cylinder LS bottom end. Reworked original cylinder heads, fancy intake mani, comp cam, makes 451hp/380ft-lb crank NA (on original bottom end*). Then they add a couple churbos and start upping the boost until something goes boom. Ends up doing ~60 dyno pulls under boost, stopping at 1,203 hp at 26.8 psi before "running out of dyno time" and NOT blowing anything up. Disassemble block to find it's actually a 4.8l. http://image.hotrod.com/f/37391559+w...theory-007.jpg *they also decrease top ring gap from .015" to .029". |

How did they up the ring gap and not realize that they were working with a 4.8L?
|
That's what I thought initially too. Maybe they found out then but figured it'd make a better article if they say it was a 5.3, then dropped another bomb saying it's actually a 4.8. :dunno:
|
That is still freaking impressive.
|
they are different by stroke length, are they not? that's not easy to "see" by looking at a ring.
|
4.8 L (290 cu in) 96.01 mm bore and 83 mm stroke. The Vortec 4800 produces 270 horsepower to 295 horsepower and 285 lbf·ft to 305 lbf·ft depending on the model year and application.
5.3 L 96.01 mm bore and 92.00 mm stroke. Is a stroked (by 9 mm) version of the Vortec 4800 and replaced the 5700 L31. Power output is 285-300 hp and torque is 335 lbf·ft to 350 lbf·ft. I'd say if you had a 4.8 and 5.3 side by side you might be able to spot the difference, otherwise doubt it. They use the same block. |
Would you have ever guessed this vehicle:

Awesome! haha Now, the 9-4x with GM's twinturbo 2.8 V6 is gonna be a fun ride I think. 300hp/295tq They need to stick that engine in the new regal GS with AWD (AKA Opel Insignia OPC) and call it Grand National. Any color as long as it's black. Too bad that'll never happen, and even if it did it'd be too much money. A decked out Regal GS with it's turbo 4cyl/FWD is only a thou or so under a Taurus TT AWD V6 SHO. GM FTL again. I want this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._Wuppertal.jpg |
What did you expect, with decades of "buy american because it's american"....

But aren't a lot of GM crap made in Mexico, whereas a lot of 'foreign' crap is made in USA?

My dad loves Chryslers, I tried to tell him the Caravans are made in Canada (and I believe some Chryslers are made in Mexico) but he doesn't (want to) believe me. Also, the new 300 looks ugly, and the rear of the new charger looks like it's from an old concept car. I'd have a Viper, Jeep or a Ram, thats it. |

What about the eurotrash Ford is dumping on us now? You know, these two fucking ass ugly TURDS: The Transit Connect employs the front-wheel drive Ford C170 platform of the original international Ford Focus—the same platform used with the North American Ford Focus before the 2012 model.[2] Other than the name, it shares few components with the Transit. The Connect is manufactured by Otosan in an all new production plant at Gölcük, near Kocaeli, Turkey, and since September 2009 in Romania by Automobile Craiova.[3] The Ford Fiesta is a front wheel drive supermini/subcompact manufactured and marketed by Ford Motor Company and built in Europe, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, China, India, Thailand and South Africa. The current-generation Fiesta is marketed worldwide. All the while Japanese, German, and Swedish vehicles are built here in 'Merica.. |
If this is the case, shouldnt that TT LS1(?) Miata be somewhere near that horsepower rating? 1200 ponies in a 2000 pound car, can I have please?

Yeah. Downloading those on the slow-ass hotel WiFi connection was fun. :giggle: http://uploader.ws/upload/200811/Bui...National_1.jpg This is probably the only GM Sedan from the 1990s I'd ever consider driving: http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0023_large.jpg |

In 2003 I visited my local Mercury dealer and drove one. Sat down and went through financing, was approved for the loan just to chicken out signing the final paperwork. I regret not buying that car. |
while we're going through shoulda, woulda, coulda bought whips:

The Mercury Marauder is an awesome beast, it would be infinity more awesome if Ford had put a manual in it. Also, the GMC Syclone/Typhoon where extremely cool. I kinda have a soft spot for the 3rd gen F-Body too, especially the Turbo Trans Am.
The G wagon is quite baller (esp. the AMG), however I would prefer a C5 Z06. __________________________________________________ _________________________________ http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/7055/renstimp.jpg Listen at your own risk. If you are or have ever been a fan of Metallica, just hit the little "x" button at the top of the tab, it's for your own good. @ Metallica I've liked Metallica for a long time now, probably 1/4 of my 21 years at least have been spend without too much standing between one Metallica song and another. I'm not exactly a "die hard" fan, but I even defended parts of "Load" and "ReLoad", I kinda even liked St. Anger, but a new low has been hit. Hard. LouTallica? WHO THE FUCK CAME UP WITH THIS IDEA, DAVE MUSTAINE? The two "songs" I've listened to thus far have been truly horrendous, please stop doing this to yourselves and go back to doing whatever you did to make Death Magnetic, without Lou Reed this time. Edit: ^This one wouldn't be so bad if it whereat for the crazy guy talking the entire time. |
first Lil' Wayne, now Metallica

Are you referring to Lil Wayne's "rock" album?

As much as I LOVE (and I do mean LOVE) everything from Kill 'Em All to Justice, I think it might be time for Metallica to either hang up the phone or do something different. I saw them at the Big 4 concert in April, and I was pretty disappointed. Kirks guitar playing has kind of taken a shit in my opinion, apparently Lars is too lazy to double bass, and Hetfields voice...I know he's trying and I respect him for that but its a far cry from the Hetfield growl of the late 80's. He has definitely gotten better in recent years, I'll give him that. Can't expect him to keep his growl when he's as old as my dad.
I really wish I was alive to see them in their prime. However, Slayer is still tearing shit up live. |
I won't listen to anything that doesn't feature primarily autotuned vocals.
