Wasn't there also a four-engine Sabreliner?

It was a geek puzzle. A true plane geek would have know once you saw the Commander that it was about Bob and deduce that those planes were ones he either flew when in the Air Force or during air shows. And since that picture is pretty new and Bob stopped flying 15 years ago, even if you didn't know that he was dead, would assume "tribute" flight. In any case, this is a pic thread, and that pic is for certainly the greatest airshow pilot of all time, and maybe the best pilot ever to live.

The Sabreliner was made by North American that became (was bought by?) Rockwell? I've heard it called by both companies. It utilized the same wing design of the F-86 SabreJet, although you couldn't just take one and bolt it to other as I've heard more than one person say.

I was in a T-39 over Alabama on a training flight when the towers fell on 9/11. Despite the "business jet" look, the thing was pretty sporty... been in a few barrel rolls in one.

I guess I'm sort of a true aero geek... but I cheated a little. I knew it had to be some sort of tribute flight involving Bob, and found the other image with search for "Bob Hoover Heritage flight". He was one hell of a pilot!

Knew the Sabreliner on sight though...

^ They don't really tell you anything about the shotgun. I'll admit I'm no expert, but I'd be annoyed if I bought a new truck and the included gun wound up being some little 20 gauge break-action model.

Humans have an amazing capacity for complaining about free stuff.

People living rent-free in NYCHA housing constantly complain about mold, roaches, rats, etc.

People standing in line to receive bread in the Soviet Union complained about how long the line for bread was.

Residents of Bhopal, India complained that "there's too much phosgene gas in this free air that we're breathing."

On so on...

(Poor people in NYC complaining about their free apartment. Only four of the nine children which this 36 year old woman has spawned are pictured in this photo.)

Three examples of the results of overreaching government control and corruption.....
You know what would be good to keep those kinda things at bay?....A free shotgun.

Someone wanted to see a Miata romping through deep snow. This is seriously easy for this car.

I had stopped to check on a mail man who had got himself stuck in the ditch of this road. Unfortunate because i couldn't help him, but he had help on the way.

Erat 02-09-2018 05:47 PM

This car sucks up snow so well. I get asked at least once a day about my choice of vehicle for winter driving. I wouldn't have anything else. I pass everything and unless there is 9" of snow or more on the ground it can't be stopped.

Ive worked in that industry. You as an individual can get a killer deal, but somebody is paying for it.
Giving away something with a car is a good way to get dumb people to pay full pop for a car.

I know what you mean. I felt the snow scraping the underside of the car the whole way into work this morning, but it was a trooper. Good tires make all the difference.

People at work think I'm crazy, but then, I did notice a hell of a lot of clean, dry SUVs in the garage when I got home this evening whose owners apparently didn't feel ballsy enough to tackle a proper Chicago winter today.

I also may or may not have driven out onto the helicopter pad and done some donuts while leaving work today.

Speaking of crazy (and relevant to thread):

Yeah. This is actually a scary thing with Miatas. Snow packs in the front suspension and the heat from the breaks melt it then it refreezes on and in the caliper when you stop driving.
A couple stops will usually clear it up.
