I used one of those for a while.
It's just as easy to cut the asshole out, give the colon a tug, and tie it in a knot. There's a second gen now with a depth stop. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...a8846b16c1.jpg |
They actually work surprisingly well on whitetail, but definitely aren't needed.

Guys, I will need help.
Shit got real. I was invited to meet one of the largest turbo importers/distributors/parts and service providers in the country today. We talked about my car over tea, and the owner asked me specific questions. I told him I have the GT2560R in mind. He said I am used to a supercharger and would like the low end response. After another round of tea, he walked over to a glass display cabinet and pulled this out. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...2ad753381c.jpg It's a twin turbo setup by Mercedes. Has 2 turbos on it. I counted a small one and a bigger one. 2. He verified that number. I politely told him I have a budget and it would still go way over if he chopped this thing in half. He then proceeded to tell me he has been following the stuff I do, the TV show, and that he appreciates the fact that I help people in car matters. The next few words were not very clear, so I asked him to repeat. To paraphrase, he basically said he would be honored if I accepted this setup as a gift. A gift. Long story short, I did accept the gracious gift. So... Has anyone tried this sorta thing before? I mean, I do not know much about turbos. YET. I am learning. Shall I go head first into this thing? Manifold and DP will NOT be a problem. I have ample room in the engine bay, even the PS pump is gone. (Electric conversion, remember?) Should I be happy, or scared, what? |
Here are some more pics of this behemoth:

Commie, I didn't think I could love you anymore than I already do. I learn something new everyday.

So cool. It's like Salvador Dali and MC Escher got together to design a turbo.

I will guess that it can generate 220-260hp bolted to a built BP on pump gas and it will spool super quick. Only one way to know for sure though! |

I have a layover in Istanbul for 5 hours. will I die?

Only if we're very lucky.

What are you doing in Constantinople? |
See if you can sneak your way into the Turkish Airlines member lounge. Then sit back and enjoy the awesomeness. After going up for many, many plates of great food.

have a layover flying back from Greece. |
What's the problem? We have all sorts of stuff locked on. This is the real world.

have a layover flying back from Greece. That was when I had a private-sector defense job and got to fly first class. Now that I'm back in a gov job I don't even get to leave my region for training I desperately need. Edit: Shit, forgot random pictures thread. My company sells products to DoD and VA hospitals. It's not as simple as that diagram would indicate. The good news is that if you do it right, the gubmint just loves stroking some checks.

Joe's "missus" has cred with y8s as she apparently attended the same university at the same time.

As regards the circuit breaker stuff above... None of that prevents the breaker from tripping on overload, only from being manually tripped off. I did the exact same thing a few years ago during a family coast-to-coast RV trip to keep the generator's main breaker closed from the Grand Canyon until we reached Vegas and could buy a replacement part. Not really sure what happened internally, but the damn thing just wouldn't stay closed even when the genny was powered down and the transfer switch was in the Shore position. I performed many hacks during that trip which seemed mundane to me, but apparently qualified for sainthood status amongst the fam. Image completely unrelated: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...8e52b42f16.png Bestest little fuzzbutt ever... |
I parked next to... this... while getting lunch today. I think the picture hides just how imminent failure is.

I'm wondering why I never realized that two small gauge pieces of hardware store angle iron = frame rail.
