I am a pleeb. Somebody else is much more serious than me.

I met Art (the car owner) when Steve and I went to go pick up some 911 parts from him. Walked into his shop and saw this Miata in progress, and an original NA Escort Series Miata restored (he listed for sale on this site at one point). His shop is just a bit Northeast of you. Yes- they do some serious race car building.

I didn't realize that was Art's car. Nice.

ComEd has decided to give us not one but two complimentary tests of our generator and transfer switch in the past two days. The most recent was at 2:30 this morning, which means I'm tired as balls right now.

That's about 1/3 of rated capacity. Now that we're all solid-state displays and LED lamps, this genny is just laughing at me like "Is that all you got?"


The switch itself is kind of impressive to look it. It makes a very exciting sound when you turn the key labeled "RESET."

It can, but we keep it set for manual re-transfer as there's always a glitch when it switches, and we like to be able to control when that happens, so it doesn't occur while we're on live from studios 1-3.

Oh, I know. They're replacing about half of the panels in the building along with the last of the 50s vintage main distribution boards upstairs. You can see that the mains cables coming into it are new, and the cloth-covered feeders are gone.

Looks like fake news to me.

I have embarked on a treacherous project over the holiday break- going through family photo albums and digitizing selected images under my mom's guidance. Though it's not all treacherous. Occasionally I come across a photo with a story attached. This one is from 1923- apparently my grandmother's boyfriend at the time was a fighter pilot and crashed his plane when he caught a pole in a field. Note says they crashed at 70mph and nobody was hurt.
