I thought hospitals didn't serve shit which causes the things they treat here in the cardiac imu ward. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...0e798a53f9.jpg Biscuits & sausage gravy? Pizza? French fries? Bbq? It just keeps going... |
How much longer they say you gonna be there and what are visiting hours? Any hot nurses? Can I bring you some Magnums?
|
I found this.
And then I found something better... |
Sorry to hear about your collapsed lung, Joe..
Speedy recovery, and keep your respiratory system NA... https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...715c7d0318.jpg |
The puns in this thread are about the only thing keeping me sane right now. Thanks, all.
I still have a boost leak. Can hear the air passing through my lung and then bubbling through the catch tank. Apparently I have to sit and be bored for several more days before they'll go in and staple it. But on the plus side, got the COBRA situation worked out finally.

Not too many cute nurses in this one, sadly. I found out that I have a displacement of almost exactly 2.5 litres. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e1486efe1e.jpg |
yeeeesh, i remember that damn thing... Get used to using it alot :)
Hopefully it will only be a few days after the staples for you to get out of there, good luck :) |
Glad you have some friends on the internet to tell you to go to the hospital. Pretty much anyone you've seen since first feeling shitty is a dick.

And blowin' bubbles through the side of my chest. |
I'll donate $5 to get this to Joe tomorrow:
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d73ed2dcb7.png It must be hooked into his breathing tube so it will register boost and vacuum of Joe. |
Haha.
Sadly, we're dealing with much lower pressure differentials than a gauge like that will register. I'd need a magnehelic. |
InHg or InAq ?
I have both. Unrelated parts going into my PC tomorrow. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...c71a7c287e.jpg |

I won't pretend to offer any relevant medical advice but you can always ask whether something's necessary and what the pros/cons are. If you could heal up natural that would be cool. Maybe a staple would help you go home faster, but idk what's best tbh.
Finally got a cute nurse though. Short, slender, a bit mousey, long straight blonde hair, big round glasses, and just the tiniest little touch of fishmouth. I'll attempt to attain a photo. |

Nvm, found out that Erin the cute nurse has a six year old and lives nearly two hours away... Abort & return to base.
Anyhow, this was funny: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...f37f05fdc9.png |

what was the context? I don't remember that scene. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1beb1266be.jpg I had my lobectomy at this hospital. Remember that? Remember how scared we all were? I didn't wanna act like it, but I was terrified. All that week, all I could think of was how they were actually going to cut me open and take out a part of me that was with me my entire life. I couldn't get that image out of my head. I think the scariest part was when they took me into pre-op. Lying there, waiting for them to anesthetise you. Knowing that you may never wake up again. Actually what I really remember about that day is driving to the hospital. Skyler, you remember me wanting to drive that day? Yeah. Anyway, there we are. |
Man, that was a great show. I really wanna watch it again, but it's only been about two years.
I clearly remember watching the last episode, it had some huge symbolism for me. I watched it while riding the train home from Grand Central to Beacon station (my daily commute) for the very last time before moving back down to Manhattan, after the dissolution of my engagement. It's actually a very pleasant memory, despite sounding a tad morose. Both the train ride and the episode represented the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Hell of a good show. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...9472f9f7a2.jpg |
yeah we started binge'ing it again recently. i'll go out on a limb and say its the best tv series ever created, ever.
|
I've recently restarted madmen again. It's depressing.
|
One of the best, easily.
I will now post images which are tangentially related, but not explicitly meant to contest Breaking Bad's excellency. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...4687e337d1.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...55126cee9a.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...eee2e5d5da.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...21a968a60f.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1c9f41d60e.jpg |

The girlfriend isn't a big TV/Movie person, but I'm dying to get her to watch the show with me. |
I hope you've all been watching Better Call Saul too, not QUITE as good as breaking bad itself, but Vince is certainly a great story teller and it's such a great spin-off.
|
I finished season 1, and something interrupted my life Midway through season 2 (can't remember what it was, maybe the Chicago move) and I lost my place. Gotta restart that one.
Also not sure where Halt and Catch Fire and Silicon Valley stand. Neither one compared to BB, but they're fun shows. Oooooh, is the next season of Westworld out yet? |
haven't seen halt and catch fire. I LOVE silicon valley. and Veep is really good as well.
|
The two shows are very different. HCF is set back in the very early PC era, and is much more of a realistic drama than a comedy. (I'm not saying it's historically accurate, merely that it feels like it could be.) But they're both excellent shows.
|
HCF, Hulu or ?
|
Principal syndication is on AMC. No idea what legitimate streaming services offer it. I use bit torrent.
|
Has anyone here been following Orphan Black?
|
Gotcha, I'm too lazy for torrents anymore. I haven't even watched F1 or V8 Supercars in 2 years.
I haven't had cable in approaching 10 years, but I'm about ready to so I can just watch the stuff I want to see when I want to see it. |
fwiw- there is a lot of sportscar racing on youtube both live stream and prior recordings. I've watched Japanese GT, FIA GT, FIA Rallycross, a variety of racing from Australia.

First two or three seasons of Halt and Catch Fire are on Netflix.

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...6634d72da1.png No staples. Still a bit tenuous, and I've got a couple of follow-ups scheduled. But I'm not on any narcotics and doing reasonably well. Also, WRT the photo: I gained 7 lbs in the hospital over the past week. Friggin' Martha the head nurse is like an Italian grandmother. "You gotta eat! You getting so skinny!" I'm embarrassed by this shot, but it's the only one I have of me in full cardio-monitor regalia showing the bandages. Six chest X-rays in one day has got to be approaching some kind of record... But a pleasant coda; Turns out that doing laps of the 3rd floor of the hospital every day for the past week has paid off. One of the nurses on the floor (different section, one who I'd kind of hit it off with*,) e-stalked me and invited me to a party this evening just after I got discharged, to which I painfully but happily obliged. We'll see where this goes, hopefully after all the gauze packing is removed. * = meaning that she is actually kind of my age, and we share some common interests. Erin turned out to be young enough to be my daughter (just barely) and has a six year old kid. Total shutdown signs. |

Plus, there is something freakishly wrong at a genetic level when someone who is literally young enough to be my daughter appears old enough to be desirable as a partner. I'm noticing that this seems to be a trend in this area. The women here, as a broad generalization, seem to be unnaturally predisposed to excessive exposure to some combination of sunlight, McDonalds, and/or inbreeding. This one was a fellow CA transplant, and seems to have taken care of herself.

Fortunately, the radiation dose from a chest X-ray is pretty minimal these days. Nothing like one of these things:
(fluoroscope.jpg) I've had numerous fluoroscopic procedures done over the years. Most recent in memory were the placement of needles in my spine for lumbar epidural injection, and the insertion, inspection, and removal of K-wires from the bones of my right hand. Not my actual hand, but looked exactly the same: |

A friend of mine did the exact same thing to let some steam off in a seemingly plastic (flexible) pole, only to find out it was a metal one.
