A few years back I helped a friend do a complete restore on her mom's 1973 Yamaha LT3. 100cc single cylinder two stroke. It turned out beautiful. I had it out on the road a couple times, and I imagine I looked like an ape on a baby tricycle when I was riding it. You'd peg the throttle and it'd give a WAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH - do it a few times and you'd have it screaming along near redline in third gear as the speedo edged past about 30. IIRC, I could get the speedo to about 55mph on flat ground WOT in 5th gear. That thing was a blast in about the same way that a stock 1.6 NA Miata is a blast.https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d0463328c5.jpg

I have a yamaha dt100 from '79 that's the same way. Only has 800 miles on it and it's so chuckable it's awesome. You can run the little two stroke all the way through fifth gear like nothing, you won't be going real fast, but man is it fun.
Also the noises from that honda.... holy hell those were amazing. |
A new one from Mike! The Miat King.....
Interesting 'fix' for sloppy latches. My only concern would be with the screw scraping the latch, unless it just gives the latch something to hold on to. |

Drum brakes, spoke wheels, 2:1 compression, suspension about one step away from leaf-springs, no tach, manual choke, 90 parsecs per gallon fuel economy.... It was, by far, my favorite motorcycle. I'll never ride another one, as it'd probably spoil the memory to go back to something that puny, but I'll always cherish it. As a no-frills city commuter, the CB-250 is easily the greatest motorcycle ever designed by man. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...07361080c5.png |

All my training says that my eyes should translate a picture left-to-right. If I take the liberty of reading between he lines, I come up with: "Women going straight from "shower" to "in the bed with me" does not require any sober/drunk translation. I arrive at the same conclusion... "I need to be making more money, or be married less".
Me and the Captain have an mutual understanding on this one. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e4a0fdbdde.jpg |

The T-37 is the sexiest airplane in the history of airplanes.
It is not the fastest. It is not the most mission-capable. It is neither the most efficient nor the longest-range. It is not the most aerobatic, and it is certainly not the quietest. Rather, it is Sean Connery's DB5. Small, sophisticated, unpretentious, and undoubtedly more exciting than a python dropped into a barrel of parrots. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...4b96b7ae93.png |

This is why I'm gonna miss big-city livin' when I move back out to the sticks next month. The local cable company is literally hosting a wine and cheese reception in the lobby of the condo building next week to encourage us all to sign up for premium services. Where else do you see this kind of shit?

https://youtu.be/uQFGkGk4PSc To quote the famous 20th century philosopher Eric Cartman; I'm, like, seriously, here. As a former radio guy who was once offered a line of coke by George Clinton in the green room at KIIS-FM in LA about twelve years ago (I politely declined), I am ashamed and embarrassed that I didn't recognize that one. On a wholly unrelated note, I'm about 1/3 of the way into the Mother of All Expense Reports right now. I haven't filed a single one since I started working at WGN, and staring at the mountain of receipts on my desk makes me sad. They're all tediously small (like $20-$50 each) but we're easily talking about $4k of unreimbursed expenses here in total. And to think that I wanted to go downtown for a cheezborger today... https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...19c4dfe346.png |

Well, now I feel like a total retard. To quote the famous 20th century philosopher Eric Cartman; I'm, like, seriously, here. But I digress. Round 2. This one is probably more difficult, but the theme continues. |
^
^ It is indeed fabulously random. And :likecat: is awarded. Whatever algorithm FB uses to decide what to advertise to me has been going off the rails a lot lately. This morning, it wants me to buy military-themed pouches of flavored coffee grinds at 7-11, as an alternative to chewing tobacco. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...6a74bdcb78.png Dafuq combination of things did I ever type / click on to produce that result? |
Is that a real thing? Chew coffee grounds instead of tobacco?

Apparently, it comes in little pouches like snuff, and is intended to be used the same manner. Oddly, a different company makes tea-grinds snuff. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...29ad532cae.png What is it with the recurring military theme on the containers? Other chewing tobaccos feature pictures of horses or beavers or mountains... Secondarily, a friend of mine puts his milk into the fridge in descending order by fat content. This has an aesthetically disturbing consequence: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...6ad2a2df3f.png Really, milk-producing company? RBG? |

Serious question: why does a normally functioning T-800 Infiltrator require a torque wrench? How is it not able to sense the amount of force which it is applying to the handle of the ordinary socket wrench which it is already holding? Swapping it out for a tool designed to overcome a basic inadequacy in the human arm seems oddly and unusually inefficient for this machine. Out of all of the plot-holes in the Terminator series, this one bothers me almost as much as how, at the end of T2, when they "destroy" the two Terminators by tossing / lowering them into a crucible of molten metal, nobody bothers to think about the fact that after all the wacky shit that's happened in there, a reasonable factory manager would likely order a metallurgical analysis of the material in question, which would reveal small traces of futuronium in the batch. leading to a repeat of the Dyson Incident a few years later. |
With all the dust blowing from across the Mediterranean, the roads were really slippery past couple weeks around here.
So I crashed my bike. Front end bentered... https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...cf6511f631.jpg Took the steering tube out, confirmed benteredness. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...2cf1c54f8f.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...31ae16f603.jpg Sent it to wholesome youth camp and got it all straight again. Joking aside, I'm fine.
Playing defensive sports all my life has its advantages, I know how to fall. Light bruises on my right ankle, knee and elbow. Healed in a few days. I was wearing shorts and sandals at the time. My bad. |

Over here many states allow "no helmets" except if a child under xx years. I was getting gas the other day and there was a young girl (17ish) riding a fairly fast Japanese bike with her younger sister on the back (10ish). Older girl no helmet + shorts and bikini top. Younger sister helmet + shorts and t-shirt. I guess some parents just don't give a shit... I gave up motorcycles 15yrs ago. Too many stupid drivers around. Hope you heal up quick. |

And also in the many racks full of orange flight test wiring and instrumentation in the main cabin. :giggle: |
It's ironic. I helped build that plane. I was there for the 1st flight ceremony of the -9. My mind just went to the -8 planes when I saw test equipment wiring. I think line 5 is the lowest line number -8 still flying, and we're using it as a test bed.

I love when they hot rod those beautiful birds... nothing like it IMO. I just wish someone was willing to nut up and roll one again.
