No spool. It's a torsen. So under braking the fronts lock together. Which means if you try and turn at all under braking it swaps ends.

I am nearly as puzzled by this rather unusual arrangement of the electrical service entrance into a medium-sized apartment building I drove past earlier today. I had plenty of time to take pictures, as owing to the gay parade it took me over an hour to travel what is nominally 2.5 miles. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1409a8361f.png https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...2eeb0f6007.png |
Our Club did a day run to Jasper, AB yesterday (about 1,000 km, round-trip). Beautiful weather, no interactions with the local constabulary and some of the prettiest sights in North America. First, we saw this:
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1e4781f566.jpg Sunwapta Falls Then this: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...8a4116898e.jpg Lake Annette And finally, this: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...ef4b7da8e8.jpg Gassing-up in Jasper Even though it was close to the longest day of the summer, we still travelled the last few hundred km in the dusk/dark. It was then that I almost collided with a humungous deer at highway speeds. It would have been an unwelcome sequel to the event, about fifteen years ago, that sparked my forum name. |
Well it's less weight because no rotors and calipers in the wheels. It was the first car palatov built, and he hasn't used that design since, if that tells you anything about it.

Something tells me it'd be pretty easy to screw up service to those apartments for a while.

And yeah, that does tell me something about it. :giggle: I found this lying around the engineering offices at my station today: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e6b33de613.png While I admit that some of our infrastructure technology is a bit old (we still use 10b-2 ethernet in some places, for instance), I'm pretty sure there are no C-64s. |

I get that there's less un-spring weight, but I have a hard time believing that a torsen and a pair of axles weighs less than a second caliper and rotor overall, especially as the center rotor & caliper would have to be twice as big as a pair of outboards. I dunno if it was built for a particular class or not, but if so then it's got a minimum weight anyway. --Ian |

Aside from the complete drivetrain replacement, the car looked mostly stock. Even had a carpool lane EV sticker! https://photos.smugmug.com/Cars/REFU...P7A8344-X2.jpg The freakiest thing about this event was the lack of noise from the EVs. --Ian |

I know most of you dislike drifting. But this miata here in Iceland is a serious machine. BMW M60B40 And a Precision 6766
And a friend and coworker with his ls2 IS200 wagon and a lot of custom work in drivetrain, suspension and subframes |

Totally serious question: What does that have to do with gun control? All I see is some asshole attacking a business owner and her daughter with her fists. I am confuse. |

Seems obvious- if everyone in this situation would have been carrying a gun, the disagreement would have been put aside with polite words and without any violence, because everybody would have been afraid to escalate.

If the chickens had guns, none of this would have started in the first place.

so happy to be alive today.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DDSPnC9VwAAkJdS.jpg Jazz Jennings, a transgender reality star, recently opened up to People about how her decision to transition at a young age has complicated her actual transition. Jazz Jennings, who has a TV show on TLC called “I Am Jazz” admitted that transitioning at a young age might not have been the best move. She told People TV that she might not have enough “material” to work with down there. Basically, Jazz started taking hormones before puberty in order to transition and now she has a baby penis down there. Apparently, having a completely underdeveloped downstairs mix-up is preventing Jazz from turning their current downstairs into the downstairs that they want. |

The name of the restaurant is "Matchbox." |

A usual 250 cc bike engine is https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...f3f52bae0f.png That's an amazing sound. That's also an amazing amount of complexity for 65 HP. Pistons smaller than Hustler's dick, more moving parts than Hustler's Mom's vibrator... I mean, who doesn't want a bike that has 94 gears and is incapable of idling? |

... and the other shoe has dropped. Core-X is on the market, and goodbye AMD, yet again.
Knock, knock. Who's there? 10 cores, with the highest GFLOP-per-TDP and GFLOP-per-$ available. AMD: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...5bc853ff40.png Intel: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...789a27372b.png |

I have always liked the simplicity and torque of a thumper. I have owned twins and fours, and they do make more and smoother power, but I keep going back to the single. You can get them cheap and they are really easy to work on.

Huh, I didn't realize there were so many 250 cc twins. A 250 bike seems tiny but 65 hp and 150 mph is impressive. Different cam lobes on each cylinder: https://petrolicious.com/articles/honda-rc166
And yeah, in terms of raw production numbers, the two cylinder engine in the Honda Rebel / Nighthawk is by far the winner in the 250cc class, at least in the US. I assume there is some automatic step-through that wins the overall 250 category worldwide because China / India / etc, but again, I'll guarantee you it's a twin. |
Bummer the new Intel Sky Lake and Kaby Lake CPUs have a hyper-threading flaw, but motherboard BIOS updates should fix the issue even though the probability of encountering it is low.
