You look around what do you see? I'll tell you what I see is a world belonging to me Take time to find what you may dream It's all right there within your grasp Just beyond what you can see We're the ones, only ones, strong ones, proud ones We're living for today Those for the past and tomorrow well they'll have hell to pay And if your days are going by too fast It's time for you to slow down It's time for you to make it last Before you trip and slip And you will miss This happy little stepping stone Just before eternal bliss We're the ones, only ones, strong ones, proud ones We're living for today Those for the past and tomorrow well they'll have hell to pay Your life goes by Before you know You gotta take time to slow down Better take time to veer off the road Enjoy the sights While you are here There's nothing to fear but fear itself Who knows when the end is near We're the ones, only ones, strong ones, proud ones We're living for today Those for the past and tomorrow they'll have hell to pay Don't make plans With your hands tied You'll never know You're missing out repeatedly On the things that help you grow You've got to own your soul You've got to take control Find a one day plan young man Get this straight Live for today Living for today, I realize Living for today, I think I'll find Living for today, I open my eyes Living for to--, one day you can throw it away |

Joe- spend some coin on some excellent shoes while you go through this back thing. These are probably the very best shoes I've ever worn. Adidas has a proprietary TPU foam they're using ("Boost") that is worlds better than any competing EVA based shoe. So far, I like the Supernova 8 the very best. This shoe lasts about 2x the mileage of any other EVA shoe I've ever worn.

I recently retired a pair of Reebok Hexaffects (yes, I know, Reebok sucks, boo hoo. These were amazing jogging shoes) after a little over a year of 6-10 miles per day. Replaced them with a new pair of Reebok Runners, which are still getting broken in. (Now that I'm a car-owner again, I don't put nearly as many miles on my feet as I used to.) But the fact is that I work in a professional environment, and clean boots are the expected attire. In the winter, I wear Timberland Titans (since I can also drive in them), and in the summer, I drive in the Reeboks and switch to Red Wing 878 Trailblazers when I get to my office (they're more stylish and durable, but too large for me to work the pedals while wearing.) I can't really wear sneakers all day at the office. In all honesty, though, footwear isn't the issue here. My boots are comfortable and supportive, and my major back-stressers at work are more a matter of bending / crawling / lifting than anything else. Besides, sneakers suck majorly when climbing ladders / walking on steel grids / etc. All of the most recent episodes have been triggered by an activity other than walking. The first was sifting through cables in a computer floor, the second was crouching over to repair a sink drain, and the third was repeatedly getting into and out of a lowered NB with the top up. These were all "bending over" type activities. |

A friend of mine used to jam a screwdriver into a bunch of bare wires to get them to short, thereby flipping the breaker without having to walk to it.

Yea we have a screwdriver shorter here. Pulled that shit on day 1 when I was "training" him. Told management on the spot im not getting within 50 feet of him. That was 7 years ago and hes responsible for the screws in contactor pic I posted a hundred paged back.

Just an epic race lap on the Nurburgring. Scattered weather track like this is where skill and experience pay big dividends.

I was told that old timers used to put their fingers across the fuses to test if they were good or not (making their thumb and index finger a parallel path to the fuse).

The speed that she passed some of the cars made me think she had 200hp more. 1:00 for example.

I think that is where her HUGE advantage came from. She's probably driven that track in those exact conditions three dozen times. IMO a track that's neither dry nor wet consistently is the worst - and most of those drivers looked like they were struggling with that.

Actually, it looks more like an attempt to meet Laguna sound regs than bosozuku to me. The sound booth is on the right side of the track, between 5 and 6, and exhausts angled like that one way to direct the sound away from the mic.

I did log the back pressure on the FM exhaust, there's maybe half a psi in the muffler, it's not an issue. The cat that I had on there at the time, OTOH... --Ian |

Ok, this is how you know that you're not exactly on the good side of town: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...f3d4d7c0f1.png That was a "sporting goods" store that turned out to sell nothing but sneakers, jerseys, and hats. I did not find what I was looking for, which led me to.... WalMart. (Gods help me, I figuratively never enter WalMart, but I needed a specific thing which the girl with pink hair at the hats-and-shoes store who could scarcely be troubled to look up from her cell phone long enough to acknowledge the presence of a customer told me I could find there) and I'm pretty certain that every single morbidly obese person in the greater Chicagoland area was there. If they weren't, that means that there are more of them, and I fear for humanity. But I saw this at the checkout, while waiting for an upstanding-looking citizen to sort through her several social-welfare-benefits cards to pay for a cart full of frozen pizzas, frozen tater tors, soda pop, ice cream, cookies, etc. I swear, there was not a singe thing in that cart which qualified as "food" by any reasonable definition of the word. People who say that welfare / food-stamp programs are not abused has clearly never been to WalMart. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...dac4859d82.png Yup, Cosplayers have their own magazine now. And moving on, here's three bearded, heavily tattooed dudes giving kick-ass haircuts while Jimi Hendrix, The Mammas & The Pappas, Fleetwood Mac, etc., blasts out on the stereo. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b9723d1521.jpg There is nothing in this world which compares to a fresh barber-shave. It may be life's most fleeting and yet most gratifying indulgence. |

[QUOTE=Joe Perez;

The two guys in front of me were checking out with a couple of 40's, 3 hot dogs, an order of nachos and a salad. As expected, their EBT cards rejected the beer, but it also rejected the salad. The manager said that was correct, because it was a PREPARED salad. The only thing approaching healthy food was exempt from the supplementary nutrition program. No such problem for the hot dogs and nachos. You see some unusual stuff in stores on the third shift. |
