Jaws, can you bite that cable so we can get back to Earth? Roger Moore was my favorite bond, but jeez that was a weird one.

Like Q and M, he is an occupation; a job title. Over the years, many men have served their country in this role, and each has made a unique and valuable contribution to MI6. Anyway, does anyone know why these drawers command so much money? https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...34136721db.jpg |

because manufacturers know that you don't make decisions based on the drawer, but rather on the equipment that sits atop it. Once you do decide on the equipment, you have exactly one choice for drawer; yes or no. If you want it, you really want it, and if you don't want it, then you weren't going to buy it anyways, so the price is very inelastic. Lastly, manufacturers change the design just often enough that when your washer or dryer fails, you won't be able to reuse the perfectly good pedestal with whatever new equipment you purchase, even if it is from the exact same model lineup. The end result is they can get away with charging you $300 for a drawer that your $400 washer sits on, because there is no competition and no used drawer market
Follow-up question: Why do people buy those drawers, anyway? More specifically, why not just construct (or pay a local carpenter to construct) a shelf which contains drawers, but which also raises the washer and dryer up to a reasonable height? I mean, I realize that I'm on the taller end of "this is just barely normal," but even someone at the shorter end of normal (say, 5'0") still has to bend over to reach the clothes on the inside. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e1fc378070.png In homes with separate cooktops / ovens, the wall oven is customarily mounted at arm-level. Same goes for microwave ovens in built-in or over-the-range installations. So why is it considered universally acceptable for the clothes portal to be at knee-height? https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...ec86a46054.png https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d0d431af32.png Am I really the only Penn in an appliance-buying world filled with Tellers? I used shit I had laying around my shed, bought two elfa wire drawers and fabbed some wood rails to slide them on. white paint later and I have a basement quality riser pair: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...9564f6a044.png Of course if you need a second washing machine for some reason, you can buy that option too. It's stupid expensive. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...9707207caf.png |
I bought a "stacked laundry center" for $500 13 years ago, in the scratch and dent section at Sears. The buzzer for the dryer has gone rogue, it goes off randomly throughout the drying cycle. Other than that, it has survived 5 moves and is still going strong.

Just the position of the car on the road says so much about that driver. :giggle: http://www.visitroseburg.com/wp-cont...art-134110.png |

^^ Ehh, looks quite "techie" and all, but I have to say I'm not that impressed with the resulting lap time. At 2:40.33, it is hardly comparable to humans in lesser supercars. :dunno:

Just got back from picking up my mom. 90 years old, and she was the victim of a hit & run. She's okay, but the car is not.
2014 Camry with less than 6500 miles. I don't think they'll total it, but it took a hard hit. Headlight shattered into a million pieces, but the damn bulbs still work, go figure. I was more pissed about the whole mess than she was. Sorry for the crappy pics: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...3e62d554db.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...7fa84d58fb.jpg |

Son's closet light pull broke. So, do I put in another ratty old string? No way. Do I find a piece of beaded chain and stick that in
there? Nope. Spend a couple of bucks and a few hours down in the shop making a fancy-ass pull that no one will see? Of course! https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1679f3013c.jpg |
^^ Nice!
I just went ahead and put all the closet (and other remote places) lights on automatic occupancy sensor/timer switches, since apparently neither my spouse, nor our progeny, showed the least regard for leaving them on 24/7. :vash: Pricier than a string to be sure, but the added peace in the kingdom is priceless. http://www.bulbs.com/Images/productmed/2/24083.jpg |

I went to K1 Speed last night with a singles group. Ran into the crew from ETS and ended up hanging out with them the rest of the time. I happy to report there were no women there I was interested in impressing. It would not have gone well.

Most normal out-for-a-Sunday-jaunt riders have a healthy fear of riding through the peach area for fear of what the giant douches going in and out of the turnoff are going to do. 100% of your brainpower is devoted to keeping one of them from killing you along that particular 1/4 mile stretch. I have personally seen 2 live crashes happen in front of me there, and driven past at least half-dozen fresh incidents, including one guy where I saw his exposed tib-fib that I swear one of his buddies was about to pee on to help sterilize it. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...48fc942338.jpg |
