Because I'm a cheap SOB who didn't buy a second set of wheels for the winter rubber.

Of course, while cleaning the summer tires for storage, I found something which has changed my mind, and I will now be purchasing said wheels:

Two years old, less than 3,000 miles, and fucking ruined by the jerkoff at the tire shop.

Fortunately, it was just one tire- the others are unharmed. And thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster they're still in production, so I can get a replacement from TR.

Doubtful. The shop is a little hole-in-the-wall place run by some Polish guy who literally doesn't speak English, it was a cash transaction (I try to be nice to small businesses in this way), and at this point I can hardly prove they were responsible, or that they even touched the car for that matter

Fuck it. A new DZ102 is only $97 shipped from TR, and that's a better deal than driving back out to the 'burbs and arguing with Lucjan over whether or not some random knuckle-dragger in the back of his little garage tore up my tire. The lesson here is that if you don't live near a shop known to be reputable by the local racing community, pick a name-brand chain and pay by credit card.

Fordite Types

Fordite History:
Fordite, also known as Motor Agate, is a unique automotive enamel material with an interesting history. The original layered automotive paint slag "rough" was made incidentally, years ago, by the now extinct practice of hand spray-painting multiples of production cars in big automotive factories.

The oversprayed paint in the painting bays gradually built up on the tracks and skids that the car frames were painted on. Over time, many colorful layers built up there. These layers were hardened repeatedly in the ovens that the car bodies went into to cure the paint. Some of these deeper layers were even baked 100 times.

Eventually, the paint build-up would become obstructing, or too thick and heavy, and had to be removed. As the story goes, some crafty workers with an eye for beauty realized that this unique byproduct was worth salvaging. It was super-cured, patterned like psychedelic agate, and could be cut and polished with relative ease!

Wow! “RECYCLE IT!” seemed to be the resounding sentiment. And so it was...

As word got around about this remarkable material, it's been said that rock hounds started showing up at auto factories, offering to help remove that problematic paint!

Sadly, the techniques that produced this great rough years ago, are no longer in practice. Cars are now painted by way of an electrostatic process that essentially magnetizes the enamels to the car bodies. This leaves little, or no overspray.

The old factory methods that created this incredible material are long gone.

The Fordite “mines” are dry, so get some while you still can!

Scaxx 11-27-2016 09:21 PM

That's sweet, seems like a good crafty stocking stuffer for the girlfriend/wife.

Car Dealership Owned By Cuban Exile Offers $15,000 Discount To Celebrate Castro's Death

https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media...qsd5zhkxie.jpg

A Cuban immigrant who owns a Miami-area car dealership is celebrating the death of longtime dictator Fidel Castro with what he considers the ultimate expression of American capitalism: a big sale on a brand new Chevrolet.

According to the Miami Herald, Arnoldo Bomnin came to the U.S. from Cuba in 1996 when he was 26 years old. He came here with nothing and started as an avocado farmer then moved to car sales. Now he is the owner of Bomin Chevrolet in Miami, which he says is the largest minority-owned General Motors dealership in the nation. Of this, he said:

“Being a Cuban immigrant with some of my family still there, I know we are all praying and hoping for continued development and positive changes to come in Cuba’s future...I was fortunate enough to make it to America and accomplish the American dream, and my hope is that one day Cubans will be able to experience the same freedoms there.”

With the recent news of Castro’s death, Bomin is offering up to $15,000 on select models such as Corvettes, Silverados, Tahoes, and Suburbans.

It's a factory incentive. All the dealerships local to me have been running this for a few weeks.

EDIT: Read the article, I see they mentioned it. I'm so annoyed by the constant politicization of basically everything.

Wyoming Man Found with 30 Eyeballs in His ---- Cavity

CASPER, Wyo. –

Police saw an El Camino speeding and swerving down 144 S Ctr Street Thursday night and immediately pulled the car over. During a routine field sobriety test, the officer saw several eyeballs slide from the suspect’s pant leg onto the asphalt.

http://sonderly.net/wp-content/uploa...ow-eyeball.jpg

Above: Bovine eyeball from Tilbott’s rectum. A total of 30 were found. Image Source: Casper Police Department

Feeling they could have a potential murderer on their hands, police quickly drew guns and cuffed Roy Tilbott, 51, of Casper. Tilbott was quick to assure police that the eyeballs were not human, but instead harvested from cows. Tilbott said he had taken 30 cow eyeballs from Johnson Meats (a slaughterhouse) where he is employed as a meat cutter and smuggled them off the premises in his rectum.

http://sonderly.net/wp-content/uploa.../11/tilbot.jpg

“Company won’t let us take animal scraps home and instead toss them in the landfill,” Tilbott said in the police report. “They’re a very wasteful company. We should be allowed to take scrap meat and other parts home. The company should start a green initiative. They don’t even have recycling at the plant.”
Tilbott explained his actions: “I enjoy eating bovine eyeballs and smuggling them out in my colon was the only way I knew how to get them out without potentially getting caught and fired.”
Tilbott admitted to police that he has been smuggling out eyeballs nearly every day for several months. “I put them in soups,” Tilbott said. “They’re beneficial for erectile dysfunction, which I currently battle, but I also just like the texture and taste.”
Tilbott was arrested for driving under the influence, his BAC nearly two times higher than the legal limit. Tilbott also had several large carving knives concealed under his seat, which police potentially believe to be stolen from Johnson Meats after Tilbott said he’d never seen them before.
Police are waiting to talk to Tilbott’s employer before they potentially charging him with theft of the eyeballs and knives. Johnson Meats has not released a statement regarding the incident.

Yeah, I'm sure that there's probably enough of a sealing surface that it'd work, probably. But TBH, there are some things I don't take chances on. I don't ride without full gear, I don't pick up slutty-looking drunk chicks in bars, and I don't fuck around with tires, brakes, steering and suspension

Well, in my case it's more a matter of not having a garage. Not a private one, anyway. Just the space between two yellow lines in a garage housing close to a thousand cars on three levels.

That having been said, this is apparently a thing that people are willing to pay for:

I told him to move over (off video) and we would go around him and he could follow our tail lights out as a guide down the mountain. I was screaming and yelling, cursing at him that got him motivated to start moving again. It worked he followed us down the mountain to safety using our tail lights as a guide! Wow!!!
