Completely unmarked. Coukdnt get a clean shot unfortunately Friend of mine had his brand new $70,000 Escalade stolen at gunpoint after being pulled over by an "unmarked police car." I seriously think it should be illegal to have real police cars with absolutely no markings on them... |

I loved that mag  |
Was a very interesting article. Not sure if it came out before or during my lightweight Miata build but it was inspirational.

4 door Avanti? Didn't even know they made them.
My dad, 84 has a nearly mint 1964 Studebaker Avanti in the garage. Hasn't been driven in at least 20 years. Recently, dad was diagnosed with cancer, and the prognosis isn't good. I've been debating asking mom for the keys, so I can take it out and get it running. One last fling for dad in his "sports car". |
Don't debate it, do it. You're dad will appreciate it and it will be a nice memory. Grab the camcorder while you are at it...
|
Yes def do it. I had to do the same thing my with wifes best friends mom and her 67 mustang convertible(she had pics of her in her high school year book). You gotta do it man. Regret it hard to live with and sorry to hear about your Father.

In many states you are not required to stop for an unmarked car at all. Fleriduh is one of them. Do expect an irate cop when the marked backup car arrives and you do finally stop.
|
you dont here. but it's smart to call #77 and tell state police that you are are choosing not to pull over until they can confim it's an acutal cop car, and/or they send a marked car to the scene. I suggest you do this, otherwise, they will probably get pissed off and overract when you finally do, drag you out of your car by your hair and taze your balls. then to top it off they tack an evading police charge to you, all for a simple missing brake light.
|
hmmmmm
tazed in the balls |

Regarding unmarked cops.
Tell me what you guys do and dont have. Unmarked cop cars. I know their plates see them every day, they are in SS commodores. Also known as as a G8 with the Biggest LS engines. Ford falcon Typhoons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FPV_F6) Unmarked imports (think GTRs supras evo's) Chase car mounted radars (highway patrol are called chase cars colloquially here) Then we have red light cameras, speed cameras by the dozen (one in sydney took over 12 million last year, alone) We also have 'safety cameras' which are a red light camera with a speed camera built in. We have to pull over whether they are in a '88 R32 in hot pink on 20s, they have P plates on (google it) and they try to race us. Dann |
That makes no sense. Not even a little bit. Regarding the "P Plates"
|
How do you mean? It makes it easier to get people to race them.
Dann |
1. Stage one is a one year P1 probationary licence (with red P plates).
2. Stage two is a three year P2 probationary licence (with green P plates). 3. P1 drivers are prohibited from using a mobile phone of any kind. 4. P1 drivers are banned from towing, except for work or when supervised. 5. P1 drivers can carry no more than one passenger aged between 16 years of age and less than 22 years, unless the passengers are immediate family members. 6. P1 drivers cannot carry passengers under 16 years of age, unless immediate family members. 7. A good driving record will be necessary to progress to the next licence stage. Some of the above makes sense (phones/towing)... but not the below. Holders of a provisional/probationary licence may be restricted compared to fully licensed drivers in speed, blood alcohol limits, limits on the type and power of their car's engine (i.e., no more than 6 cylinders, no forced induction), and number of demerit points that can be deducted Red and Green P-platers are restricted in some states to a maximum speed of 80(NSW)/110 depending on if you are with an instructor 100 km/h is allowed in certain states and territories, and these values are shown on the respective plates. |

Increase the speed differential to increase safety and build driving skill. Brilliant!
|
but we cant do their speed. we move into the lane we cant accelerate to find a safe gap.

So in Australia, everything on scales, in the water, or on more then 4 legs is probably poisonous and can kill you, cars are crazy expensive, and traffic laws are insane. So why does anyone live there?
|
Until you've bareback a bronze bitch on a beach in Oz's Gold Coast, you haven't lived.
