Reminds me of when "Nouveau Cuisine" was all the rage in the early 90's.
We had a company Xmas dinner at a swanky restaurant that served "Nouveau Cuisine" and cost a small fortune.
The entrée was tiny, even by small entrée standards, but when the main course arrived with the stainless steel serving cover and removed by the waiters, there was a massive sigh of discontent from every male in the room, there were only a few "scraps of food" in the middle of the plate and most of it was salad!
- it actually looked like a "normal-sized" entrée served on a dinner plate.
Most of us ducked out throughout the night to the nearby Yiros/Gyros shop, including senior management and some of their wives, because we were starving.
After that disaster the company ensured that males had some input into the venue and that subsequent Xmas dinner main courses were "Man-sized"!
