They are pretty common, yes. Here's one I took a few years ago of a sun halo:

They're one of a number of optical phenomena caused by internal reflections in ice crystals way up in the stratosphere.

Oh, I hear that.

A few years ago, I needed to move a rack containing a new router into position in the equipment room. Probably 400-500 lbs in total, and it had to go up onto a hollow 3" riser, with about an inch lip.

Low ceiling, so no space for overhead rigging.

In the end, I remembered that there was a demolition crew swinging hammers down in studio 3. So I went out and bought a couple cases of beer and a tray of fancy sandwiches, and early that afternoon, the rack was in place. I submitted for reimbursement on the beer & sandwiches, and the GM had a good laugh when I explained it.

What I found most amusing about this wrench is that it comes wrapped up like a Christmas gift:

Possibly Anti-Oxidation Paper: VCI = Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor. Though it more typically looks like this, or a yellowish plastic (from India / China):

Oh, for sure. And there was an inner layer of waxy paper. It was more the fact that they went to the trouble of printing that nice, glossy outer wrapper with the pretty graphics for it that I found amusing.

Take two hammers and hit the union on flats 180 degrees apart. You can hit them simultaneously or slightly off-beat. This will help break up any corrosion (if you're lucky). Sometimes you can even hit the union nut in the direction to loosen it, sort of glancing blows and it will let go. Pretty fun stuff. And no, you don't have to use the newb to try this out (although now that I think of it, I have seen you post pictures of a lot of messed-up metal where you work so it might not work as my experience).

My neighbor invited me to go with him to an music festival with a few "oldies" bands performing. It was a small venue so I was pretty close to the stage. I took a few pics and some video.

Billy Gibbons is 73 years old now. Dusty Hill died last year at age 72 and has been replaced on bass by their long time guitar tech, who is also a gray-beard.

Uploaded my first 3d side by side video to youtube last night. Holly hell youtube shrinks the footage a shit ton. The footage looks good inside a VR headset but looks like shit if you play it on a screen.
