FINALLY after 7 attempts I got a sharp image of the international Space Station flying in front of the Sun!
At exactly 12:36pm and 30 seconds - line of sight meant from a location 20 miles south of me the ISS would Transit in front of the Sun this would only last 0.67 seconds.
This imaged was achieved by using my camera and a 100-400mm lens with a 1.4 extender AND a solar filter
I’m so happy!! I’ve tried over a year for this! See less
Speaking of solar eclipse.. if you've never seen a total eclipse, you gotta do it at least once in your life. Like i'm talking go right in the center of the path so you get the full effect. the difference between total and partial is worth driving few hours.. trust me.
Saw it a few years back. I remember being the only one with a welding mask. It was awesome.
I was in NC, at work, when that one happened in 2017. Several of the engineers brought welding masks / gas-torch goggles. Several more built camera obscurae.
We were on the beach at Pawley's Island, SC in 2017. I specifically chose that week and location since it would be in the path of totality. It was an amazing experience to kick back on the sand with a drink in hand and watch the event unfold.
