That looks like it was photoshopped or something. There are no signs of the kids when she first rounds the turn and goes off the edge of the road, but instantly those red coats appear out of nowhere just an instant before they hit the gate.

Please see "or something" then.
Did you at least stop/start the video at the magic instant to see where the kids appear?

I found a really proper rock to sit upon today. Big Horn Outlook, at Dead Horse Canyon.

The geology leading up to this point was interesting. Basically unlike anything I've seen before.

The first couple of miles were pretty easy, though I'll admit to having crawled the last hundred feet or so on my hands and knees.

Have I mentioned that I have a fear of heights?

This was the overlook rock, from about a half mile away:

One of my favorite scenes from any movie is from The Hunt for Red October.

It happens about halfway in, when the Captain and the First Officer are having a private conversation in the Captain's cabin.

After some brief discussion of shipboard security and naval tactics, they begin to discuss their dreams of life after they reach America.

FO: I would like to live in Montana... And I will own a pickup truck. Or, maybe even a recreational vehicle. And I will drive from state to state. Do they let you do that?

Cpt: Yes.

FO: No papers?

Cpt: No papers. State to state.

At least.

Also, Starlink for RVs has been active for, like, about a week. And yet I have a confirmed sighting in the wild:

Day 3 in Dead Horse Canyon.

Gave a tour of my van to a very nice lesbian couple (with hairy legs) from Canada this afternoon at the end of the Dead Horse rim loop trail. After a long and taxing hike (about 8 miles), I was resting behind the wheel with the windows down before heading out onto the road back towards camp when they hailed me.

They're driving a VW Eurovan, and are looking to upsize slightly. My rig is about the smallest Class C in existence at 20.5', so it fits into the same spaces theirs does. We were parked next to one another, in fact.

We spent some time taking about how the rear galley area might be converted into a queen sized bed with storage underneath, the pros and cons of a wet bath (from their point of view, having no interior shower at all, it's all pro), the outside storage, etc.

They liked it. I hooked them up with info for the manufacturer.

I'd have liked to hook up with the taller one with the pixie haircut outside the context of RV manufacturers, but mentioning that seemed inappropriate at the time.

But the absolute baddest-ass folks I have met by far were driving this Toyota Hilux:

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...bf18277bff.png

Right now, you're thinking "Oh, Joe's just saying "Hilux" to seem hip and cool in a Top-Gear way."

No, my friends. Zoom in and check the plate. That's right, Switzerland. It's a Hilux.

These folks have a scoreboard the likes of which I have never seen before.

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...306f3d8846.png

Here in the US, the overlander types have a map of the US on the side of their vehicle, and they put up the individual state stickers as they cross them.

These folks have the entire USA as a single sticker.

Mad Max wishes he had this truck.

I think that's the first time I've ever seen Canada spelled with a K. "Kanada". Is that an EU thing?

No, that's not dirt. Thats a shitton of carbon that used to be the brushes on this little ECS blower. Do not snort...

It's been active for a few months, just not open to the public. We used to have to email them and tell them where we wanted to set it up if we wanted to move our terminal until they updated our terminals a few months ago. Now it's automatic if they have coverage in the area. That is one of the new terminals, though. We have the old ones like this.

Well, Switzerland is not part of the EU, so no, it's not. It's a language thing, as the canton of Solothurn, where this Hilux is from, is German speaking.

My friend uses it for his 5th wheel. The first time he tried it was at Buttonwillow Raceway. It arrived at his doorstep just as he was leaving for the track. He got there, plugged it in and after a 5 minute boot-up it worked seamlessly.

Joe, what's the price of gas out there right now?

We are having second thoughts about going to San Diego this year.
