My present domicile, somewhat unusually, is at ground level. While I technically don't have any yard of my own per se, both the front window (living room) and the rear window (bedroom) open directly out to what little grass exists around this stereotypical outer-boroughs Chicago low rise multifamily dwelling. So I could contort my logic to state that I have a better claim on those two thin strips of land than anyone aside from the property owner, who is an absentee landlord. This isn't a doorman building, just a little freestanding six-flat structure with no lobby.
