I actually got pretty good at that after breaking my left foot about 10 years ago. I just turned the idle speed up and set the idle recovery to be quite aggressive to make it possible to start off without the accelerator, and rev-matched every shift after first.
I sure am glad I made the decision to leave southern California in 2013.
My first year in Chicago, I bitched about the fact that I'd spent all this money on good winter tires and we had a complete farce of a winter...
You made the right choice in leaving the Socialist state of California.
Your brain fart was in deciding to move to Chicago.
At least you were half right.
I left cali a few years ago. Some things I do not miss, but there are some things one can only do in that state. For me it was the hundreds of thousands of BLM land. A place I could drive a dune buggy 120 mph through the desert without a care. I had no idea that basically 100% of Virginia is private land or national park, where you cannot drive like a banshee ********. Speed limits and violation consequences too, those suck in Va. 15 over the speed limit and you will be taken to jail. Cali cops/chp dont even look at you until triple digits. I miss cruising the 15 fwy at 95mph just to stay with the flow of traffic. I also DO NOT miss the flow of the 15 fwy durring any daytime hour. reduced to about 0 mph.
