I have a 5.1 Sony STR DE915 HiFi system that has Toslink input. I want to hook it up to my pc and use it to drive 5/1 speakers. Will I get the true 5.1 surround or will it be emulated inside the Hi-Fi?
Highlight of the setup... Front speakers are running 18" speakers for lows and the sub setup is running quad 10"s.
Yes, you can have 5.1 as long as you have an appropriate source material (DVD,BD, game, etc) and configure it all correctly. DD/DTS, etc and not some reverb emulation.
