Episode 1 of "Sanayi Savaslari" aired today.
Decent responses so far. Here's the ful episode. No subtitles, no translation at this point. |
I NEED ENGLISH (or Spanish, or even German, if they're simple enough) SUBTITLES!

I like this. Not too sure about the belt surviving any meaningful torque even with that huge pulley, and that idler bearing is not going to be happy, but still a clever idea.

Is that an alternator or something?

Some of those old Root-type blowers you see poking through the hoods of Camaros easily pulled 75-100 HP on the shaft, and that motor doesn't looks big enough to be producing / consuming anywhere near that. |
How much power do you think that motor can produce Joe?

Polyphase AC motors from Curtis which appear outwardly similar are rated in the neighborhood of 60-90 HP (peak) when running at max rated power (generally up to 144v at up to 500-600A.) |
Well the warp 9 motors are about the same size.

Still, the motor in the photo is clearly a brushless 3-phase AC motor. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...3ddbbd5607.png https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...e647c309e6.jpg |
I'm pretty sure the main function of that motor is providing low rpm torque to help the engine climb to its powerband..
I struggle to see any other explanation for the cog belt setup. That belt would be unpleasant under load at high rpm. Or, I could be wrong. Edit before I am publicly humiliated: I guess I am wrong. Timing belts are cog belts and they do just fine at all revs with valvetrain load. And shock. And rapid acceleration. So there. |
