UGH DIAGONAL SINK HATE GROUP MEMBER HERE
What's worse is that the sink wasn't even originally in this location. It's obvious from the placement of the wall-penetrations that it used to be where the dishwasher is, and someone made a conscious decision to instead bury it in a corner. This place is such an enigma. Great location, amazing view, shitty parking, and high-minded but poorly executed plumbing. Anyway, detail of the glycol loop above my car: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b0467e8cda.png The bit of garden hose is a nice touch, and surprising given that for the most part, the common areas of this building are extremely well maintained. The laundry room in particular is fucking amazing. Tons of brand new machines, clean as an operating room, never a wait, and it has its own library. Hell, even the mail room is impressive: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...30ea578aa1.png |

Upon closer inspection, I was wrong. They did in fact cut in the sink as close as possible to the user, such that its lip overhangs the cabinet:

edit: Oh, on the right cabinet door... Yeah, like I said, The handyman who installed this stuff isn't the sharpest hammer in the bag. That's a bi-fold door which definitely opens outwards to the right: You can also see the damage done to the door to the left of the bi-fold as a result of it slamming up against the revised handle location: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...71f3d629a6.png It's hard to find good workmanship in this town. My final apartment choice came down to this place, or one with all two-prong electrical outlets and a fusebox with actual fuses. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...3647b82d58.png Oh, and the toilet at the other place leaked at the floor-flange: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...01eefe7cbe.png Shame, though. That place had a really nice shower. |
We just did a thing, I was actually impressed by their work:

My gutted bathroom, below. It is completely stripped down to the subfloor and studs. I have all brand new fixtures to be installed (shower, sink, toilet) as well as new floor tile. Faucets, hoses, drains, it's all brand new. No wiring or real plumbing to do, just drop the fixture in place and hook it up. Hell, the faucets and hoses have already been installed on the sink, which is about a 20 minute job. One guy quoted me over $100 to do that.
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...0b035e8307.jpg I have had quotes ranging from $5700 to over $6900. Today a guy quoted me $750 plus materials to put up drywall. It's a freaking 5' x 8' bathroom, for heaven's sake. Where do these contractors get off charging such incredible rates? |
So saturday i ended up getting some carbon fiber film for my trunk. There were some rusted spots which i fixed and painted but didnt have the good 10th ae paint so instead i put this on.
