I made one of those years ago!



These projectors were the first mass produced blue laser diodes for consumer devices. I sacrificed several dozens of these things days after they came out for the 24 diode array inside. Was a great time to be into lasers, never would we have guessed we'd get such power density from a diode in the standard form factor, never ever would we have thought they'd be blue, and never ever ever did we think they'd be ~$40 bucks a piece. Good times...

This was a early model, each diode ran about 1W on a duty cycle that maxed around 80%, depending on the output brightness setting. This was full power, of course :loser:

I forgot the cease and desist orders I got from Casio! They didn't like me breaking them down and selling them, and I think they are the ones who turned paypal on me!

Shall we put the animals in cages, then? Perhaps give them hope that if they shape up they might be released? Maybe write "Work will make you free" over the gate to their cages to give them a smidgen of hope?
