It was explained to me to be the latter. apparently with the older hydraulically crimped splices you can actually see them with a thermal camera. Not so with the explosively set splice.

does anyone here recognize this car? I was told by its new owner that its a rear mounted turbo and he cant track it on over 3psi due to heat.
