is that the diet where you can eat one bucket full of whatever a caveman ate?

Jeffbucc 05-13-2014 07:33 PM

I've simply stuck to moderation in all things "diet" and mountain biking. I went from 190 rock climbing weight down to 160 after switching to pure cardio. Of course, my metabolism hasn't slowed down as much as you older folk, so not needing a diet may be a little exclusive to my young 26 years of age.

Learning that Gorge R. R. Martin writes Game of Thrones on WordStar 4.0 under DOS.

He and I are very much of the same mind here.

One of my old Econ professors used Word Perfect on Windows 95 to write all of his journal papers. I was hanging out in his office one day and noticed 5 or 6 old computers sitting around in the corner. I asked about them and he said they were for when the current one he uses dies, he just boots up the next one and uses it tell it dies. Apparently years ago when the college was updating to Windows 98 and Office or something he could not stand it. He asked IT to set him up a dozen or so Windows 95 computers to be exactly like he was used to and just uses them now and refuses to change. Tenure must be a great thing is all I told him.

Only use it for my novels, also

Ironically, I had to do essentially this at a radio station I used to work at. They were using a hard-disk recording system that only worked under DOS, with Novell Netware, using the Dolby AC2 codec on a specific sound card made by Antex that was only available in a 16 bit ISA version.

Because updating the whole library to a more modern platform would have been a huge undertaking, I started hording Pentium-class machines with multiple ISA slots, along with NE2000-compliant ethernet cards to go into them.

The station finally bit the bullet andupgraded to a Windows-based platform two years ago, mostly because they'd run out of machines to run the old system on. I'd say that they got their money's worth out of that software license.
