There are actually valid reasons for mounting directional tires backwards, but the hood fail is very LOLz

lulz, there is typically no desegregation in dry performance with backwards tread, so you can flip tires around to equalize mad dorifto induced tire wear. i've also read that it will improve snow traction, but I've got no intention of finding out for myself. unfortunately, it will not alleviate worn synchro problems.
