Default Hydra Knock Threshold

What's yours at? I know every car will be different and nothing's guaranteed to be safe, but I'm a bit curious how others are setting this up. Here's mine from awhile back for comparison.

0 RPM: 0.42
800 RPM: 0.42
1600 RPM: 0.42
2400 RPM: 0.46
3200 RPM: 0.50
4000 RPM: 0.56
4800 RPM: 0.64
5600 RPM: 0.70
6400 RPM: 0.80
7200 RPM: 0.90
8000 RPM: 1.00
8800 RPM: 0.78

have you done any free revving while looking at the knock screen to see what your baseline noise level looks like?

I did the free revving and also a dyno pull without any boost (coupler blew off at the start of the pull). The free revving is a similar curve, just lower voltage readings. The pull without boost just moved everything up a bit while following the natural curve. I have 2 noisy spots that always show up regardless of what I do. One at 5400 and another at 6600, neither is detonation that could be verified with det cans.

The numbers I posted above were from tuning with electronic det cans and watching what the knock sensor showed. Here's what I'm currently running until I can get the new setup back on the dyno. This should be more inline with what most people are running.

0 RPM: 0.42
800 RPM: 0.42
1600 RPM: 0.46
2400 RPM: 0.50
3200 RPM: 0.52
4000 RPM: 0.56
4800 RPM: 0.56
5600 RPM: 0.58
6400 RPM: 0.60
7200 RPM: 0.62
8000 RPM: 0.66
8800 RPM: 0.66

My original numbers seemed a bit high to me and that's why I posted them. With all the blown motors lately I have been looking real hard at my own setup to find potential errors in what I'm doing.

I'd rather lose a degree or two of timing for noise than lose a motor to detonation...

Yup thats why my setup is like this:

0 RPM: 0.5
800 RPM: 0.52
1600 RPM: 0.58
2400 RPM: 0.6
3200 RPM: 0.62
4000 RPM: 0.64
4800 RPM: 0.66
5600 RPM: 0.68
6400 RPM: 0.7
7200 RPM: 0.7
8000 RPM: 0.7
8800 RPM: 0.7

In between what you had and have now Jay
