I got an australian NA6, short nose. Trying to set up Haltech elite 1000 wiht their PnP harness.
I am pretty new to this and there aren't many guides online for troubleshooting haltech stuff on miatas / mx5s. (going with one because of lack of megasquirt support)
Loaded in the base map, got the RMP showing in the ECU. Currently have a timing gun connected to verify spark timing but not getting anything. Here are my settings
The functions tab is complaining that the Check engine light is not enabled
This is my trigger settings. Had to disable pull up on home signal to get RPM to show in ECU Ignition, mostly untouched besides locking to 10* to verfy timing. Not getting any spark with these settins Wha'ts werid is that Ignition 1 and 2 Duty are greyed out. Shoun't this be other way around? I am not sure where to change that
I had a weird problem on my NA8 where I could not get sync when i turned the injectors off, as I wanted to set timing running it on the starter. Would get an error on that. So i turned them on and fired it up and set the timing running. Do you have your injectors off?
Injectors are enabled but the AFM fuel pump connector is not jumped (so the fuel pump is off during the cranking)
Not getting any errors during cranking
Also tachometer doens't work on the dash but that's issue for another day (unless it's related because from I understand it's partially driven by ignition system)
Call Haltech - seriously - they will walk you through it. Got mine started in 30 minutes.
Absolutely agree with this. If you're disinclined to do this for some reason, I did find a Quickstart Guide for the 1.6L PNP harness on their website, have you worked through that yet? There seem to be a couple of "gotchas" that could easily have been overlooked. The guide was associated with the PNP harness, not the ECU, which could be a reason you haven't found it yet.
Had a call with Haltech support and the wizard has figured it out.
Few things that I got wrong:
1. Using EPS software instead of NPS. They re did all their base maps for NPS that have better settings for base tune
2. Falty timing light that lead me to believe I was not getting any spark when cranking
I had tach problems with mine. I have the standard 95 coils which send a tach signal, and in ESP it was set for 4 pulses/rev. So every now and then the tach rpm would double. I figure the signal from the haltech combined with the signal from the coils confused the tach and it read both. Set it to zero and the tach worked correctly. I assume I will need to recross that bridge when I change to a more powerful coil setup. And if you do that you do need the Haltech tach module based on what I have seen other users have to do in here.
What base map did you use? I have the Elite1000 plug and play kit but cannot find the base map for the 1.6 NA.
I am not using the plug and play kit as I have gone LS sequential coils and a few other mods.
