It has male and female stock MX-5 connectors, and then some standardized connectors for the adaptronic. There are some things done on the circuit board to keep error codes down, some resistors and circuit loops.

y8s 03-02-2009 02:45 PM

and the adaptronic comes with a pigtail that includes the standard adaptronic connectors, right?

ie if I had some wire and the stock ECU and harness connectors and a radio shack near by, I'd be set?

What are you trying to do? Parallel install with the hydra? If thats the case, then yes. The connectors are standard. PNP harness plus hydra plus radioshack=good.

The adaptronic comes with female receptors of all the connectors on the PNP harness.

y8s 03-02-2009 03:15 PM

parallel install with the adaptronic!

but without the harness. because 640 < 910 and I already have the ECU male and female connectors.

TravisR 03-02-2009 03:20 PM

Ohhhhh... Ok I wasn't sure what you were doing. The flying loom Adaptronic has the standard connectors in on one side, which is plugged into the unit and then unterminated wires on the other. You can find the wiring diagram in the manual.

y8s 03-02-2009 03:21 PM

HMMM... OK. Very interesting.

I hate to think I can improve upon the standard offering, but I am willing to try! :D

TravisR 03-02-2009 03:33 PM

well what did you have in mind??

y8s 03-02-2009 03:42 PM

making my own harness for PNPNP (plug n play n parallel)

edit: so I can run code-free OBDII and stuff.

TravisR 03-02-2009 03:45 PM

Ok, so you in??

y8s 03-02-2009 04:48 PM

whats cutoff date?

TravisR 03-02-2009 04:56 PM

I'm trying to make it wednesday. The last person said they would have their mind made up by then.

y8s 03-03-2009 10:35 AM

I will regret this. hahaha.

Hmm, those resistors and whatnot interest me. MS systems don't require them, I wonder what circuits they're attached to. The only ECU codes i get with a parallel MS are for the front and rear non existent O2 sensors currently.

All they done with the resistors was make it to where the signal coming from the 5v+ didn't go directly back into the MAF, temp and other sensors of the stock ecu that the stock ecu doesn't get hooked to.

Ben,

As far as the group buy I mean I think its a pretty cut and dry case that they work well. I've had mine on my car for about a year, and no problems. Stein has driven his around easily enough, and I don't know where Vlad is on his install. Everyone is winding up for Wednesday because they want the units. Maybe if we could talk over the phone about it, or if Stein could talk to you about his kit? I think he'd be willing to do that atleast. You are a mod, if I sold you junk I'm afraid my sponsorship position might be in jeopardy.

I will update tonight or tomorrow AM latest if the wire switch fixes my issues. It should.

y8s 03-03-2009 06:22 PM

travis should sweeten the deal if ben gets in.

You and me both. Ugh...fucking cars sometimes...

Travis, I have a question; I know you gave me some previous general explanation on the subject but, before I consider committing I'd like to know the answer to it.

Let me first clarify that where I reside, I'm not subject to any kind of OBDII inspection of any kind. Taking that into account, I have to ask: would I be able to run the Adaptronic as a full standalone (not in parallel with the ECU) as I'm able to do right now with the AEM?

I find AEM's interface pretty complicated but at least I don't have to deal with 2 ECUs in the car.

My tipping point is confirmation of a good driving boosted 99-00 running around without CEL issues. It looks like Stein's CELs were caused by an installation error, but I'm fine with waiting a week to see if this is indeed the case. My car already runs great with current management (xede) but I get frustrated with constant false CEL for misfire detection when I run timing more aggressive than the stock PCM cares for. (for those curious, it's an error caused by shifting the CAS signal that causes the stock PCM to report as misfire on unknown cylinder, and not any sort of actual misfire or detonation event)

If you wanted to wait a week to submit your order (pending approval from any parties that have sent you funds), as Stein and 18psi get their shit squared away, then you'll probably find other people currently on the fence like me commit.

I have no reason to distrust you. Just want to see the thing work before I pay for it.
