Exactly... I told them not to attempt to wash it. I dont mind buying a motor that looks dirty... I completely expect to have to clean & repaint things.

this is what my motor looked like sitting outside from Oct to March, under a tarp, through a few snow coverings, plenty of rain, and exhaust/intake/coil ports (spark plugs in place) wide open:
no rust. motor WAS poweredwashed before it sat and again after this pic.

No motor this week... Finally got through to the "manager" who was off Friday when I originally called them to let them know I had a problem... pretty much was lied to last week in them telling me another motor was on the way.
Now a motor should actually be on its way to me

Next one arrived today but unfortunately I wasn't there to see it in person... Looks good from the pictures my employee sent though.
Only things that look wrong with this one is
- A couple missing exhaust studs, and I will have to buy nuts since it didn't come with an exhaust manifold
- The t-stat housing is busted (perfect excuse to pick up that re-route I've been thinking about)
- A couple sensors might be broken

Didn't realize this was going to to be that big of a deal to get to the t-stat housing bolts... Guess im going to have to do a timing belt on it before I even try to start it. Everything looks ver clean on the motor though which im happy about! Hopefully I will get the intake mani pulled off today if I dont want to be too lazy...
Oh look my manifold fits!

So what is my best option for timing belt, water pump, and seals...
I'm thinking about going with Rosenthal mazdas timing belt kit which includes everything for $215...i don't know if I will need those drive belts though because I have no idea what I need belt-wise for the 1.6 to 1.8 swap

This is the kit that I would buy if I were you. I have been using kits like those for years and have never had a timing belt or water pump issue.
