What is this part? Bolts from intake to..somewhere

Thats the part, this is where it mounted to:

It was hanging loose for a while - the bolt was stick in there - I had to drill the head of the bolt off, and then take it out - if its important I'll order a new bolt and put it back in

Don't be so sure about that....
IIRC, that piece missing is one of the reasons Emilio's throttle body plate/flapper screw came loose and almost went through the motor. :-o
If I were you, I'd leave it in unless there is a reason you can't (oil cooler lines or something).

I have been around Miatas (pro wrench and owner) since they first came out and never heard of such a thing. All of my Miatas have lost the brace when they come into my hands...makes maintenance a whole lot easier.
The most likely reason the engineers installed it was for NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness).

I have been around Miatas (pro wrench and owner) since they first came out and never heard of such a thing. All of my Miatas have lost the brace when they come into my hands...makes maintenance a whole lot easier.
