Default Weekend Project: Roll bar. Complete!

I just finished fitting an Hard Dog Hard Core Double Diagonal M2 roll bar into my '93. Looks just right, and everything fits as of now- however I am not sure if the top frame will clear the bar once I add padding.

Sam, if you're interested in stripes check the group buy section of m.net. Some guy just started offering them.

BTW, nice looking car fussball!

Thanks everyone.

@mr_mazda329- It's a Canon Rebel XT. Those shots are with my walkaround lens: a 28-135 with Image Stabilization.

I'll hopefully get some more interesting shots (ie not in my driveway) over the next few weeks. I need some quality shots of the Miata!

Looks good, I kind of regret not going with the hard core bar.

Clean car. Is there any difference with having the M2 bar in the NA vs. the M1?

Yes. If you ever plan on upgrading your plastic window on the top to a glass window, then you need a M2 bar.

OP: Looks awesome. Good job on the install. How long did it take you?

Sam: the stripe kits over at m.net are WAYYYYY overpriced. Paul did my stripes last year. Vinyl for it cost around 40 bux for the entire car including the hardtop.

The SFI rated padding that Bethania Garage sells does not fully surround the bar; it only pads the forward part of the bar that faces towards your noggin. Since it doesn't cover the top of the bar, it adds no height and therefore should cause no problems with rail clearance.

If you want to use standard padding that surrounds the bar equally on all sides, it's easy to cut/trim it wherever necessary for clearance, no worries.

Thanks for the props.

I ordered some dual density padding from OGRacing.com. The padding has SFI rated stuff underneath and softer stuff on top- I hope that will answer the need for bareheaded and helmeted knocks on the bar. I just plan on making my own vinyl cover.

Time to search for a sewing machine on craigslist.
