Default VIR 24 Chumpcar Result

Well we went out for the 24 hour race as we did last August and it was once again a blast. Weather was much better than last year 80's during the day and 70's at night a little rain but it beat the 100+ hear we had last year. Car has a 1.8 swap this year giving us a little more power (30+) so that was nice. For once we had something for the e-30's on the straights. Other than a few cars on the track we were as fast or faster than most. 119 cars stared this race.

Started out kinda rough when after only an hour i the car our 1st driver pulled in and had thrown up in his helmet....remember no drinking the night before a race....ok just not so much drinking. Pulled him out and another got in. We got hit by a GIANT Chevy Impala but after a drive by we did not see any significant damage we told him to continue. Saftey break for 30 minutes and a track change from Grand to Full at 10pm. We changed to a fresh set of Star Specs (amazing tire, 3/4 tread on them after 12 hours of racing). Little rains storm but did not keep us from putting down some good times. Best lap at night was 2:35, not bad in the dark! Moved up to 5th place and was catching 4th when at the 6am the 20 hour mark the rear let go (dam them 1.6 rears!!!). Car was hurtin but still running well before the rear issue it was consuming a quart of 20-50 an hour. So I bet some rings are in our future.

Over all with out the last 4 hours we placed 51st. Till next year!!!

The car:

Last year power vs this year power...

They are Hella 500 with a HID conversion, not a great pattern of light but it bright!

E30 LeMons hated Miatas and e-30 so much we figured we combined the two for them.

Some of my "friends" were at the race, they were campaigning a 2nd gen integra. Haven't heard how they did, but I think the car is generally fairly competitive.

I was suppose to crew for "simon says" integra but had family stuff come up. Hate that we(my daughter and I) had to miss it. Hope our e30 will be done still running by next years 24 hour.

Ya I know "Simon says" won. I was there last year for the third place finish and hate that I couldn't be there for this years race.
