Default Trackspeed fuel pump relay V1 vs V2

Hey guys and gals. I’m in the middle of the fuel pump relay install. I have the older V1 that requires you to cut and join wires from original oem relay under dash.

the V2 kit does not do this.

is there any reason for me NOT to install the v1 kit? Why was the v2 kit created; did it offer a benefit over the v1 aside from not having to crawl under the dash?

any help is appreciated.

thanks and happy Memorial Day!

I own neither kits so I don't know the difference. In the V1 kit, does it still use the factory fuel relay? Maybe the V1 kit bypassed it and the V2 doesn't?

When I did a 'custom' relay for my fuel pump, I kept the factory relay in place and used the 12v power (that originally powered the fuel pump) to trigger the newer relay.

V1 has you go under dash and connect 2 wires that went to factory relay. Red/white and red/blue for my 2002. The v2 kit doesn’t have you connect anything under the dash and instead has different pin out on relay with additional ground wire.

Problem solved. The instructions with my kit are v1. After reviewing the relay pin out it is a v2 relay, so factory relay will stay in place under dash.
