Trackday Prep List
I'm almost certain I'm going to make the 5 into a pure trackday car. I'll be taking it off the road and probably trailering it to the track next year. So with that in mind I've started a list of things to do by spring next year. Is there anything you'd add that you found useful on the track??
Cooling
- Radiator ducting / shroud to direct air through heat exchangers (£ 10)
- Bonnet vent (exit for hot air directly behind radiator) (£ 20)
- Water Injection Pump, tank, pressure switch, water lines, nozzle, on/off switch, 25l meth (£ 250)
- Oil cooler sandwich plate, lines (£50.00)
Cooling total £330.00
Brakes
- Corrado 280mm big brake conversion (brackets) (£ 80)
- Carbotech XP10 race pads (£ 120)
- New race fluid (£ 25)
- Brake ducting from front bumper (£ Free)
Brakes total £ 225.00
Weight Saving
- Remove electric windows (£ Free)
- replace electric mirrors with light mirrors (motorbike carbon?) (£ 30)
- Remove centre console and all associated wiring for windows, mirrors (£ Free)
- Remove stereo (£ Free)
- Bung aerial hole (£ 1)
Weight saving total £31.00
Traction and Aero
- R888s or Full Slicks (£ 280.00)
- Fabricate front splitter(£ 30)
- Cut out section from rear bumper to improve airflow (£ Free)
- Coilovers £600
- 4 wheel alignment (£ 60)
- Bushes ( £350)
- Gutted hardtop (£ 300)
Traction and Aero total £ 1,620.00
Total cost £ 2,206.00
I can't wait to get out on the track more, and running the car as a daily just isn't helping. I can never spend time getting the car how I want it without worrying about it being on the road for the next day.

Indeed safety. Is tw carpet coming out? You mentioned the center console, but not the carpet, that weighs a lot! The r888 apparently don't last long. Unless you're racing competatively, I'd sacrifice a little ultimate grip for some longer life. I don't think there's much weight to save by switching mirrors, I'd save yourself the time and hassle and leave it for a time when you're searching for that last few ounces.
