Track ******, question about roll bars.
Which roll bar do you have and do you HAVE to have a hard top to track your car?
I have an M2 Sport with DD's. Would I be able to track with? If not what about with a hard top?

I have seen requirements for diameter and thickness of roll bars as well as the requirement for four mounting points. There seems to be some variation between sanctioning bodies. You should check the specifics regarding each track/event in which you might be interested.

I am sure it varies by club but I wouldn't want to do a road course without the hard top, regardless of the rules. I've seen enough cars find themselves wrong way up at HPDEs to recognize it as a possibility. Obviously a cage would be best, but roll bar + hard top seems to be the best option for a streetable car.

Most clubs will likely let you run with the sport. If you want to do Time Trials or something more official than HPDE you'll likely need to upgrade to an approved bar. Most car clubs that run events are only worried about it being tall enough and 4 mount points. Like Brain said, some aren't that strict on the height either.
HT is absolutely NOT neccessary. Some HPDE events will even let you run top down, some you have to have the top up.
I upgraded recently from an Autopower Street bar to a HD HC HT. As long as I had the hardtop on I was never turned away at a track day with that crappy autopower unit. That thing sits way back and low like the HD Ace. WAYYYY below my head. If I didn't have the hardtop I don't think I'd have gotten away with that. Only advantage of having the HT I can think of as far as passing tech.

I don't own a hard top, yet the test fit shows it will work when I purchase one.
Drilled and tapped a test hole, then filled with appropriate sized bolt for thickness testing/verification.
Harnesses are connected to the lower crossbar.
This configuration will work for NASA HPDEs, most tracks in the local area, SASCA AutoX, the Texas Mile, the Big Bend Open Road Race (with addition of an anti-submarine brace for the driver's seat), the Silver State Classic Challenge and the 130-Club at Bonneville.
