tore it down.....
well I installed a catback on my buddy's Scion TC today.....:gay:
and it got me motivated to do some work on the miata.....
so I removed the downpipe, manifold, turbo, and external wastegate....
I gave the manifold to the machine shop to be resurfaced since I had a leak at the flange that was annoying the hell out of me....
I took the downpipe to the performance shop down the street to have the crappy welds ground down and re-done..... seems the dude that did it for me originally sucks at welding ..... looked like popcorn
Man! getting the downpipe out was a PITA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
And the Manifold was just as much of a bitch, I had forgotten how bad access is to the bolts there!
Looking at the flanges.... I had some major leakage goin on! A large leak from the cylinder closest to the front of the car, and small one from the one closest to the firewall. There was also a leak at the wastegate inlet flange, and one between my downpipe and my midpipe..... and a couple of the weld joints on the downpipe were leaking also....
so hopefully within a couple of days my car won't make any odd noises anymore!
