Strange Electrical Issues
Hey all, new member here, my first post! I'm active on a few forums, most of which are Motorcycle related but I just registered on here. I own a 1990 NA in red, 96k miles on her, 6k on a new tranny, power nothing, oldschool, cheap and incredibly fun!
I did not notice this when I purchased the car but she has a few electrical bugs that confuse me. I'm pretty mechanically inclined but I have no idea what's causing these issues. FWIW, I did check the FAQs section and couldn't find anything on either issue:
1: When the headlights are on, the taillights and brakelights remain on as if my foot was on the brake pedal. When the headlights are off the brakelights perform as normal in back but my front indicator lamps also act as brake lights by lighting up when the brake is applied. the top mount brake light stays on as well when the headlights are on. I was told it may be a burned out relay but wanted to run it by you all to see if anyone had dealt with this before.
2. This is probably due to the new transmission
that was put in before I bought her but when she's in 5th gear, the reverse lights light up.
In order to solve the reverse light issue, the bulbs were removed but it should be noted that even with the bulbs in and functioning, problem #1 remains. Any advice would be very much appreciated. TIA!!

u prob have a 1057 bulb in the back vs 1157 and the current is bleeding off into the rest of the circiut. Some one went in the back and niger riged your bulb holder.
The reverse light comming on is a very weird one seems to me that someone rebuilt ur tranny and put the reverse indicator switch in a position to where 5th would activate it and not reverse that is hillarius but i have no easy solution for it
