Steering wheel alignment questions
Hey guys I have a 97 1.8
I diD my alignment myself yesterday and finally got it straight. For some reason I had to tighten the end link all the way down to the tie rod on the passenger side. Well needless to say my steering wheel is at about 50 degrees right. It sux but the wheel alignment is dead center. Now I have no problem pulling the steering wheel and the airbag had long since been disconnected so I'm now worried about that. If I pull the wheel and just turn it to center and bolt it back on will I loose any of my turning radius? Also will my blinker function be affected? Is there a way to disconnect the linkage in the engine bay and do it that way? I'm planning on getting an aftermarket wheel anyway so the wheels gonna be pulled one way or another. I just need to know what I should do in the mean time. Thanx for any input.
Hope to see some of you guys at the OCC Mazda meet this saturday look for the red mx5 with 1 north steakhouse magnets

You need to center the rack, and install the tie rods roughly even. Remove the coupler to the steering rod, then, center the wheel, and use a bungie to hold it in place. Reinstall the coupler so the wheel is straight. Adjust tie rods for toe, using the string method. This will get you pretty close. Get it aligned.
