Default Spare 6MT building?

Hey guys, so at the power level I am at now, and with my transmission being 80k-ish miles, I was thinking if I'm going to move further, it may be nice to have a spare trans sitting around. So a friend of a friend has a 6MT from an MSM with a 2nd gear that doesn't work, but its never been opened so no-one knows why. I was thinking of getting it because its $150, and if I could somehow either use it for parts, it might be nice to have.

I know guys sometimes upgrade to straight-cut gears, or strengthened ones or something of the likes. I don't know if these things are available for our cars or what kind of money they fetch, but I'm basically wondering if this is a worthwhile endeavor or if I should just wait for a good deal of a working 6MT comes up and to grab that.

No it is not a worthwhile endeavor to go inside at 6speed. Buy a spare and just have it on hand as a consumable.

That's what I've done. Just have to get a clutch kit handy for the inevitable. I'm wondering if the Happy Meal 2 would hold e85 power or if I'm pretty much locked into the ACT ZM2-XTG6.

I actually forgot all about the clutch, and I also run the FM2.

If you can tear down and reassemble the 6 speed yourself then heck yes buy it. It may be as inexpensive as a fork or synchro replacement to get it back to good, and that will make for a cheap upgrade.
