Basically, he is running a 1.6 with 12:1 compression, stock flowing head, and built bottom end. Supposedly pushing 17psi through a gt2560r, and he made 388whp and ~340 lb/ft of torque. What do you guys think? I'm calling bs.

My gut tells me it was 3rd gear runs. Runs were too quick to be in 1:1.

after doing some more searching, I've learned it was a dynocom. These read about 18% percent higher than a dynojet. which brings it down to a slightly more believable 318whp.

My guess is the dyno wasn't set up properly.

Edit* I'm pretty sure it's already a 6 speed.

The skeptisism here surrounds the 2560 in relation to the dyno numbers, not the results specifically.

Different turbo. Gingyboi went with a much smaller turbo then what MattMan had.

RedMist did say the runs were done in 5th gear (car has a 6-speed). Something is probably off, as a gt2560R cam't support much more than low 300whp if absolutely tapped out. I believe they said ~17psi in the video. Unless their chassis dyno is actually trying to estimate crank hp, and they assumed like 80% efficiency, this feels like fake news to me...

This car runs exactly like my ~325hp car. He gets a little more wheel spin in 2nd than me, but i run a 3.636 rear end, i don't think he has one of those.
I know for a fact i have a better engine and i'm pretty sure i have a better hotside setup, i spent a lot of time and effort porting the **** out of my 2560, log manifold, and turn down.

if that is 388whp, I must be well over 500, which is amazing, cause I only have 400whp worth of injector.

I posted on the video with the same thing. It's hilarious how many YT fanbois replied to me defending him. It's impossible to make that kind of power on that turbo. I agree that the dyno pulls were WAY too quick, probably not in the 1:1 gear, and the dyno is a type that reads high anyways.

Looks like ~300whp to me. Still respectable power, but it ain't no 380whp.

I looked at the video above and all I see is a tool endangering oncoming traffic around the 1:38 mark. Doesnt look like anywhere near 380whp to me. However if he took it to a dragstrip the 1/8th or 1/4 mile trap speed (not the e.t.) is a very good indicator of true hp to weight. He could also use a dragy, vbox or some other proven method to measure trap speed as well if no access to drag strip.

I said the same ****.

It's an old turbo, on a log manifold and 2.5" downpipe, 1.6 with a stock head and the turbo can't make that much power.

Gotta remember the guy started out as a video game youtuber. The fact that he has gone this far is really impressive to be honest. Most of what he builds he does himself. I don't think he spends much if any time reading forums or other critical information that would have led him to be more skeptical of the numbers. In terms of why no dragy video etc, you gotta remember he is playing the youtube game. He isn't trying to hide anything, he is just saving that for a future video. I am 100% sure there will be future videos of his tests - all in their own episode - and likely a correction on the performance numbers. That will surely be followed by another video where they upgrade to a larger turbo to actually hit those numbers.

I know Caleb in that I have hung out at his old shop before he moved. Several of his friends are my friends. (although, as a 40 year old dude hanging out with teenagers I felt a little out of place and stopped coming by). The shop where he did the dyno tune is the same shop where I last ran my car. My car ran 260whp/236wtq on that exact dyno. That number seemed rational to me based on my turbo and the health of my engine and the sub-optimal parts I was running. Based on what I know of him - I don't consider his claims as purposefully deceptive. If anything it's just him being a tiny bit naive and non-critical. Mike the shop owner didn't know what turbo he was running so the numbers didn't seem out of line at the time. I can't speak for him now.

Basically, I don't believe those numbers but I don't think it's him being purposely grandiose.
